AAAAAAAAAAAAAA for effort...... Nice win.... Great to see Hemsley play hard and set the tone defensively.....excellent effort.... Also nice to see Malik and Max gain confidence with their bodies....Part of Pope's passive play in the past could be contributed to his body breaking down at the sight of stress....great to see him fluidly moving up and down the court.... Kell is Kell....per Fisher circa 2015 " he's our smartest player. " He must've meant calculus and/or chemistry because his court awareness lacks at times....stepping out of bounds in consecutive games.... If the Aztecs play with abandon and energy they can play with anyone in this conference....but will they?

Hoetzel is back! Had some new line ups that were working well. Hopefully we carry this success through the rest of the season

Really impressed with Hemsley's improved on-ball defense. Not yet Dakarai Allen, but getting there. Completely agree. I think as thinking the same thing watching him tonight. He may never “be” Dakarai as it were as he is not quite as as long... probably height differential of at least 2” and wingspan of 4-6”. With that said, he’s really becoming a very good on ball defender

Utah State took Gonzaga deep into the 2nd half in Spokane. Potent offense that was neutralized by the Aztecs forcing 19 turnovers. Max finding his 3 point shot was nice to see. Good step in the right direction. That was exactly my concern, but USU just didn't have it together for the whole game. Missing bigs hurt. Can't give up that many TOs and have them turn into points on the other end and have any chance of winning. Aztecs did their part by not going into a second half scoring rut tonight … and that was huge.

Max is more assertive tonight and it shows in his game, his confidence level is up. Also, Utah St has no bigs tonight and we are taking advantage and getting to the rim. My guess is that Max is finally 100% healthy, or at least clean we to it ... and has played himself back into game shape. Happy for him, but also we NEED him to be the player he was tonight, on a consistent basis.

Re: Kell, he is still not close to 100% and I saw him tweak something on his leg when he landed taking a really poor shot, a fall back wing jumper that he took off and landed on one leg. Was a ill advised, low % shot at any time, but given his leg issues he should be smarter than that even taking shots like that. Kell’s IQ seems aligned with both his health and level of play. When he was healthy earlier in the season, he could later with a high IQ, since then playing well less than high level play and IQ.

Big prop to Utah State players for not trying to score on the last possession of the game and f x x x up the free car wash for all the SDSU fans in attendance. 1 more point then we would not have gotten our car washes.

His drives to the rim are getting cut off which is making him indecisive and he ends up taking a tough, unnecessary shot. If he doesn't get 100% soon, our MWC record is going to take a serious hit. We need his drives both for scoring and opening up open threes and other driving lanes. Also, we need Jeremy on the court. Watson is a very good offensive player and a terrible defender. A lot of the open threes are due to his poor defensive choices.

Oooh, but wait a minute....., all those basketball experts claiming that Montana should not be playing because he hasn't hit any threes yet. Surprise!Surprise!Surprise! Coach knows what he is doing by playing him since he knows it is just a matter of time when he starts hitting those and will help the team. Montana was the second leading scorer last night with 14, and one thing else. He made a nice assist to Rooks for a lay up to get started!

He looks for his screw ups and then advertises them here. He doesn't like him. He admits it. Bob and I get along, although it's tough, because I like Kell and he doesn't. To each his own.

I get it that you don't like him, but everybody screws up at times, especially when you play a lot of minutes and you have an injury. You're getting better though, I think you actually praised Kell, ONCE this year.

Hoetzel was on the postage radio show last night. He admitted he wasn't 100%, that his legs aren't there yet, and that he may have come back too quickly and pushed too hard, as opposed to getting fully healthy. He also admitted to getting frustrated.
Good kid. Hope he gets healthy and stays that way. The team needs his instant offense.

He's a great kid.....I just take a contrarian position to our coaches.....Someone mentioned in an earlier post that the offense plays/looks faster with Jeremy and Devin playing at the same time.....I tend to agree....they as a tandem appear tougher to defend than Trey and Devin...purely conjecture of course...... Offensively, I'm sure Trey has more of an arsenal than Jeremy.....However, defensively, especially being hurt, Trey is often beat off the dribble causing others to compensate....I like Trey's rebounding ability..... Hope he get healthy - kicks some ass and leads this team into the big dance....just stay in bounds doing it!

We have all the pieces to be a really good team but our freshmen will have to learn fast , the team chemistry to gel and everybody get healthy. If these three things happen look out ...!!
