That is a great article. Mr. Penny, is a "class act", with tremendous maturity and wisdom for his age. He will go far in life, whether it's football, or anything else he chooses.

I wonder how this will dust up will be integrated? No one in a position of power (Doak Walker Award Selectors, in this case) likes to be told that they are buffoons. It will either make the future selectors even more (if that is possible) biased against G5 players or it will require some sort of a criteria to be established in an effort to eliminate politics (impossible to eliminate it entirely). I looked at the stats of the all the finalists vs Penny for Rushing yards, total yards, TDs, Yards per attempts and it smacks of a P5 Bias, nothing more. www.smu.edu/DoakWalkerAward/Candidates If you look at the selection committee, there are too many Big 10 wonks (the Midwest Region of Sports Media types are the largest contingent of regular voters) and too many "special representatives" who are former running backs from, you guessed it, teams that are now in P5 conferences. www.smu.edu/DoakWalkerAward/AboutUs/SelectionCommittee

I wouldn't expect anything to change.

He also plays in the mountain west. I'd like to see what type of numbers these guys would put up against our competition.. No comparison when it comes to the Big 10. We be lucky to be at .500 in that conference. Being undefeated or even 1 loss and this is probably a different story. We would be ranked and have a lot more pull when it comes to awards. Typically awards are given to winners. #5 Wisconsin #12 Penn State #20 Stanford Are you F'ing kidding me? Indiana, Rutgers, NorthWusturn, Purdue, Nebraska? Really those are 'Powers?"

Randy Cross just said the obvious. Penny isn’t in a P-5 conference.....period. Cross and the CBS announcers also said that they needed to play more afternoon games for more eyes in the east to witness Penny’s achievements. I have said for YEARS that night games ruined Faulk’s chance for the Heisman. IMO.

Penny would have had close to 300 yards today if Rocky would have let him play the series Washington had the late score in. Wish he would have had Penny in, Washington has next year.
