The collective memory of fans is irrelevant. You may remember Don and Madden on campus, recruits obviously do not. 15-17 year old basketball recruits are very unlikely to remember Kawhi's playing days or even the MWC being a four to five bid conference with a stout RPI. By the time the current crop of high school guys were getting recruited (which is likely when they started paying close attention) we were an offensively limited team that squeaked into the tourney one year and then failed to make the cut two consecutive years. Last year's disappointing season will be fresh and will color their perceptions. Kawhi's legacy at SDSU will remain strong with the fan base, but will eventually be as relevant as Cage, Holcomb, Sipe, Santos, and McGwire So the players we were recruiting in 2008 what did they remember Nothing. Not one thing. They bought into the ideas of a hall of fame coach. A coach who had closed some big time players and who was known for his ability to close the deal with at home visits.
