Connecting the dots on this one, he's a local, PLUS, the timing of his announcement comes right on the heels of us losing out on all other possibilities for a 5 next season. We'll see.

I wonder if he still has family here. Apparently they're still in SoCal. www.scout.com/college/california/story/1774287-kameron-rooks-receives-release-will-transfer"Rooks, the son of late Arizona star Sean Rooks, is very close to his family, which still resides in Southern California." He may be a better option than Hamdy in rebounding and defense if we manage to land him. "In his three seasons at Cal, Rooks played in 84 games, with 20 starts. Last season, Rooks averaged a career-high 4.9 points per game, playing in 24 games with 10 starts. Rooks missed 10 games due to injury this past season, but even not playing a full schedule, he had clearly taken major leaps even from the end of last year, when he played the best he had in Berkeley. He averaged 10.5 rebounds and 11.5 points per 40 minutes, and was particularly stout on defense in 2016-17."

How about we root for our Aztecs instead of being a bunch of d-bags?
C'mon Kameron, we'll welcome you down here on The Mesa. Lots of minutes available for the right guy who wants to work hard and prove himself in the post.
Go Aztecs!!!

I wonder if he still has family here. His sister will be graduating from Mission Hills and heading up to Washington to join the WBB program there. His mom still lives can the area.

You never know what goes on for these young men when they chose to transfer, but coming to SDSU makes so much sense. Coming back to San Diego and being the ONLY legitimate option at the 5 (i.e. lots of playing time) for a team that can be pretty good next year.

Yep, I've seen his sister Khayla play many times in person and Kameron occasionally attends her out of season (AAU) games. She is a solid player, nothing flashy, just really knows how to play. I thought she may back out of her commitment since the Washington coach left for Arkansas (coincidentally?) as soon as Kelsey Plum played her last game. Kameron would be a good stop-gap pick up, but we definitely need a 4-year Skyler Spencer type recruit to land here. Apologizing for stating the obvious. (Mods: can we append that last sentence to all of Stan's posts?) Just kidding Stan!

Rooks has greatly improved his game and his motor since he was a senior at Mission Hills. Kudos to him (and the Cal program) for getting him into shape. He was a bright spot in their disappointing season last year.

Transfer where? Oldie Out The story from Rothstien. Overall, Rooks played 84 games for the Bears, averaging 13.8 minutes per game and he put up 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 points per game. equal to Izundo, not Cheatham.

Rooks might just be a late-bloomer. Seems like he was just starting to show improvement and valuable game as last season came along.
Could be a great opportunity for Rooks to have a chance to really impress and earn the starting role at PF/C for what could be a very good Aztecs team. Yes, I said it... potentially a *very* good team if all the pieces come together.

Kamerons cousin is JJ Obrien. UConn and Cincy are on him heavy right now. SDSU women screwed the pooch on his sister Khayla. There was a possibility of landing both her and Destiny Littleton but they didn't do their job
