It's obvious that your assessment has some major flaws in terms of how recruitment is going Snap out of your dream and back into reality He shows the literary depth of our moron President. Defense is an obvious part of the game and players do take pride in it. But it's not discussed - it's simply done. It is easy to make the argument that SDSU is not where you go to refine your offensive game for the NBA. Hopefully that takes a dramatic leap for the best this season. We can run a GSW-type of offense with the talent we have at PG/SG/SF. Lol if we "ran a GSW-type of offense" this board would literally implode |

I still expect we will add a scholarship player or players for next year. Hopefully at least one who will be immediately eligible. If that doesn't happen, many of us won't be pleased.
There are still grad transfers around the country who have not announced their intentions yet. Some may wait for the semester to be over.
Josh Davis announced he was transferring to SDSU in the middle of May 2013, and Garrett Green announced his transfer in August of 2011, after his summer graduation. |

Pro - adding Watson who is hopefully a PG that is pass first and helps get the offense moving .
Major con is not being able to sign a quality guy to play the 5 - still hope that will be done for 2017 team
2018 - Can we sign top quality guys ?

Puts a smile on my grumpy face. How are the aztecs going to be really good if they can't convince any really good players to commit here? Many teams are landing grad transfers, highly rated recruits in bunches , transfers, really feels like we're in a slump. This has been going on for too long, long before Fish retired, we need to see the ball go through the hoop so to speak and get someone to sign on the line that is dotted! |

How many legit 5s have we had under Fisher?
That number is on one hand. Lets not pretend we were getting 5s under Fisher on a regular basis at any time.

For 2017 we need ONE quality player at the 5 position .
Did I expect we would get one of the better ones - not really . But with our needs pretty well defined at the end of the season in March . then losing Zylan . It became paramount that we need to sign a quality guy that can play near the basket . Shouldn't there have been a major priority to make sure things were happening to solve the problem .
How many guys have we had visit Ahmed, Jeter ( 2018 but would need a 2017 scholarship - can we say long shot ), Wooten ? Understand can not name recruits but word gets out if we had other visits . Is there a situation that we can not even get visits from other mid range grad transfers or JC players or some of the 2017 HS guys out there ?
Dutcher added Tim Shelton , a "nice "hire so we are at full staff , would hope there are things happening - soon . As more and more names get swept up. Some guys visiting schools that we should be able to compete with sure seems as though we are in quick sand .

OK, OK I'll continue to give Dutcher an unearned benefit of the doubt about getting a big in here this year. He has to have a plan, right? But if he whiffs and we watch USD!!! have some success with their new 7 footer, it's going to get real ugly on this board. Granted, this new Australian kid is only 220 lbs but if he grows into his body, we're going to be asking some hard questions about whether or not this staff is in over its' collective head.

there should not be a hall pass for this year . 1 Basic recruiting assignment for the 2017 team: Sign a quality 5 that can play for the 2017 .

I understand the loyalty move of promoting Shelton. I would have preferred a targeted outside hire that would bring new ideas (especially offensively) and culture to the team. if that hire also had deep AAU connections it would have really helped.
