We were never really on Wooten's radar.
But the chips are starting to fall. Look for alot of commitments over the next several days.

According to the SD-UT and Ziegler Wooten had visited SDSU, maybe you missed it. If we weren't on the radar I doubt he would have dropped by for dinner. "Fifth-year VCU transfer Ahmed Hamdy-Mohamed and prep prospect Kenneth Wooten, both eligible immediately, visited two weekends ago. Duke transfer Chase Jeter, who would sit out next season, visited last weekend."

Once again...we get the sniffs...but there has to be someone that can "seal the deal"
Doesn't look like we have a closer these days
No "A-B-C'ing" for our Aztecs these days with any bigs...and this has been for the last 2-3 years

Another lost big...every battle with a PAC-12 school has been lost for any kid that's 6'9'' or taller...time to reanalyze the recruiting strategy...it's not working at the moment

Once it felt automatic, then last year the NIT and this year nada. Too many blown leads, injuries and total losses. Plus Oregon, USC, UCLA got much better. AZ used to run the PAC.

Reality - The better PAC schools will get the better recruits . Can try to sell guys but if there is the opportunity for them to go there they will . Our coaches can not promise recruits that they will be playing in the PAC conference. Wooten was Nevada recruit , then ASU but once his stock rose he was going to head toward top of the PAC . Their teams get into MM and better exposure .

While Wooten would have been a nice add we have McDaniels for hopefully the next 4 years. Rivals has McDaniels rated much higher and if he has those extra 20 pounds he'd be getting more hype.
I'm good with McDaniels, Hoetzel and Pope sharing time at the 4. What we need is a guy who can play center and has a post game. Hamdy-Mohamed is more needed for next year's team. Still wish we could add a big man and a grad transfer 3 who can fill it up.
I'm not sold on the Kell, Gill-Caesar and Schakel group at the 3.

Saw Jalen on the Fisher preview of next year show still seems very lean - Jalen , per Go Aztecs, is about 190 lbs( same as JH ). But IMO he has a lot of talent . Max is at 210 . Malik and Nolan at 220 lbs. Teki and Trey at 215 . Ahmed is about 230/240 lbs and is needed at the 5 . A lot depends on the development of Nolan , Max , Teki - who steps up ? IMO would like it if Malik would be given the full opportunity to show what he can do at the 3 rather then the 4 - doubt there are teams that can match up with him there - night mare for them and our best scoring opportunity - if the guards can get the offense in motion and the guys down low the ball .

Love McD's potential as well, and should be a stud at the 4. You can team him with any of the other 3 guys except Max & be fine along the front line. Hamdy would be a huge add to go with Nolan at the post, and then if we can get either a FR or a transfer to groom at the post that'd be a bonus as well. The kid from UO would be an OK 1 year fix for '19. Pope is going to be a nightmare stretch 4 for anyone & everyone this year, and eventually McD will join him as a major threat. Maybe not fully this year, but sooner rather than later. Offensively we should be set at the 3; D will be a step down.

once Ducks had all the openings for this year , seemed Wooten was going to fly up there .
Our key is trying to get Ahmed for this year at the 5 to free up Jalen at 4 , Malik at 3 , with Teki 3, ... also need to see additional development from Nolan at the 5/4 - that could provide a decent front line - toss in Max and Jordan as shooters but prefer the guys attacking the glass .
then see if we can get a quality regular transfer Jeter or the guys from the Ducks for 2018 with a HS recruit or two at the 5 .
Trey , JH and Devin at the guards with help from Adam .
