Interesting. Seiko would probably redshirt if Baker were to join us. Seiko would most likely de commit this is what we need.Baker is about two or three times as good as Seiko.Baker is averaging 17.8 with 3.5 rebounds per game.Get him here and cancel Seiko's key card to the jam center. Common bro...you know that Seiko signed a LOI right?

Remember in 2007 or 8 we had a 6-6 SF that we parted ways with,Does it make sense to you that we have a SG that averages 9.9 a game?Never since maybe the 1999 or 2000 recruiting class have we taken such a project player. There is nothing wrong with parting ways.

Taking another guard who is very good is better than signing a 5 who is on the margin. A 4 guard lineup with very good guards is better than a more traditional lineup with some average bigs. Not trying to sound much like Standiego, but that coaches will make that decision.

Plus you don't walk away from talent. It works its way out.

While I do think SDSU should try to put the best 5 guys on the court . We would be remiss if we forget to remind ourselves how poor we were at rebounding this year . Need guys that in addition to scoring , also hit the boards plus will be able to defend the other team We play the Zags next year , ASU .... think of those match ups . Problem this year was our lack of a quality 5 meant Zylan playing out of his best position the 4 and Malik at the 3 - if Malik comes back and we really need him , then it should be at the 3 .
We can have a list of X amount of pages of recruits but then comes the reality , who can we actually sign ? Agree that we need quality over size but at some time , need to be able to recruit quality guys that play the 5 , not over load on guys at the 2 or 3 ? Is Nolan able to play the 5 - sure wish he had gotten more PT but that now becomes a major question moving forward ?

I think gundo is referring to USF who had Bill Russell and KC Jones. Also, Not sure that Cal actually delivered Jason Kidd but rather he just used Cal as a pit stop on the way from High School to the NBA. Those weren't Gundo's words, he was quoting Baker's statement. It's just PR on the part of the kid, nothing wrong with that. Cal did make the Final 4 a couple decades ago as well, with Tony Gonzalez in the starting lineup - future hall of fame tight end. Cal hasn't been beyond the S16 since 1960. Gonzales was on a S16 Cal team in 1997.

Signed with Kentucky, serious upgrade for Baker. The kid had a huge Sr year shooting the ball.

...and ask ourselves...were we in the consideration set? I know we were before CAL and a tremendous HS season, after he decommitted? We will really never know.
