Good pickup, this guy is fast and can flash some leather in the outfield. If he can hit and get on base and avoid the huge slump he went into midway through last season, should be one of the Padre's everyday players.

Plan is to make him the starting CF. But he will need to hit.

Webb was a heavy price to pay.

Do we still retain Ludwick?

Do we still retain Ludwick? Yeah, but I believe he is arbitration eligible and due for a raise.

Webb was a heavy price to pay. This was my thought too. I have no issue with dealing Mujica, glad he's gone. Webb in this trade too was my concern. But Maybin has the potential according to scouts to be a star.

I like the deal. We still have our 3 main bullpen guys for now too.

Kid is 23 years old and was considered a 5 tool prospect at one time. I like the gamble on this, we trade a strength for a weakness, and still have Gregerson, Russel, Friere and Adams.

Don't forget Bell. I think bell will be traded (rightly or wrongly) before the season or at the deadline. We just have too many good arms to not try to get something for him. I hope he stays, but this is the padres we're talking about. I love the dude's energy and style, though.

Ya that why I left him out too. It's sad because if we were a normal team with a normal payroll I'd give him a 3 or 4 year deal. But we aren't and we have to strike when the iron is hot. I think we need to get what we can right now and he is a hot commodity.

Maybin is a stud, Webb is a small price to pay for this guy. Maybin has 20 HR, 40+ SB potential.

Maybin is a stud, Webb is a small price to pay for this guy. Maybin has 20 HR, 40+ SB potential. After watching Petco Power-outages, I subtract projected HRs by half for everyone. Maybin might hit 10 if he pulls it. Headley might hit 1 or 2, etc. A-Gone would hit 60 in the Reds or Phillies Parks', but I give him 30 in ours on a good shoulder.

Bill James projections for Maybin in 2011.
Cameron Maybin: .277/.349/.424 with 14 HRs, 85 RBIs.
He turns 24 on opening day.
Stud fielder.
Good trade. A steal.
