As we can notice as we compare PAC and MW basketball heading into 2016-17 conference play . The PAC schools have gotten some very highly rated recruits and they have performed well . take a look at OOC results. MW teams were not able to sign top rated freshmen recruits so MW teams can not make the big leap as top rated schools . How many at large Bids do you think PAC schools will get and how many will the MW get ? MW schools rely on getting quality guys that take 2 to 4 years to develop or transfers that may also take time to get to their best production. . PAC schools get those guys also but they can blend them in with the guys that leave school earlier. The divide between P5 and G5 widens . Starts with HS recruits .

Every MWC team had a winning OOC record. Lacking big wins, but over .500 nonetheless.
Looking at roster turnover, most teams will improve simply with the guys they keep being a year older (not CSU, Vegas, USU...)
I don't see a top 4-5 year for the MW in 17-18, but I do see a significant improvement coming that should hopefully put us back to 2 or 3 bids.
The lack of high recruits coming in should bounce back as well with UNLV, Nevada and us, if no one else. It is concerning, but I think has a lot more to do with ebb and flow than some grander p5/g5 divide.

The MW will most likely not get any top 25 recruits from the HS ranks . So as is the norm now for MW - all depends on what players come back and develop for 2017 and transfers. What teams will lose what players ? Then what players come in ? We lose a great defender in D. Allen , Malik - who knows . Hopefully Zylan stays ? We do get two red shirts and 2 HS recruits . What guys come and go for Nevada , Lobos, Fresno , Wyoming , BSU,CSU ..... ? Does the MW jump up to a 2 bid conference ? Again the key is how teams schedule and perform in OOC for the 2017-18 season MM at large bids . We have Wooden Classis , AT ASU , ZAGS home , is CAL game here ? MVC challenge , AT USD .... Remember other conferences also improve .
