That actually mentions him as signing, not just committing. Is he a mid-year player who has actually signed & will be on campus in a few weeks & ready for spring ball? That'd be nice if true. |

Strong at point of attack, strong hands (fights blocks, good hand fighting), relentless, good feet, disciplined (good zone, gap awareness). Looks like he can contribute immediately and provide much needed depth. Similar Aztec players: Alex Barrett, Kyle Kelly. Oldie Out

Midyear JC transfers were able to start signing December 14th so if he's signed then yeah he'll be here for the Spring semester.
From his highlights it seems like he's what we look for in a DE. He's quick on the edge, really good tackler and seems to have a really good motor. Won't really know until he starts practicing in the spring but we needed more talented veterans on the DL for next year.

The questions on the DL may not be as drastic as feared. |

If I were to speculate, DT Gardner is still catching up to our schemes and isn't playing as fast (or up to expectations). He has the size and ability, it's just mental now. He needs the reps to fine-tune his technique and move up the depth chart.

Good college Programs re load - very helpful to have the bowl game practices , guys enrolled in Spring so they can be at spring practices. Nice to be able to have Gardner red shirt last year then be ready for the 2017 season .
As noted similar to Barrett in style , hope he can come close on the field - would be terrific .

He is signed and is a 1st team all-state and is an AA.

The program is growing, maybe at a slower pace than we want but it seems to me we are (slowly but surely) getting better and better. We are surely not there yet but we are headed in the right direction!

Once you get good, and we are good, it is a much slower process. You replace good players with slightly better ones to grow. |
