My wife and I went to see this movie yesterday. I was surprised to learn that I had been by the actual location of the action many times. Any of you who have been stationed in Okinawa have also been close a number of times and like me never really knew about it. It is Kakazu Ridge near Ginowan. www.google.com/maps/place/Kakazu+Ridge/@26.2818097,127.7585945,12.2z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x34e56c8fb33d0f1f:0x37911cb582747e61!8m2!3d26.258765!4d127.7369803?hl=en Watching the movie you get some hints about the fact that the native Okinawans were also victims of the brutal Japanese during that period. That is not that well known. Of course the movie has been dramatized but you must wonder at the resolve and bravely of this medic who won the Medal of Honor for his actions there. Those guys who served at that time really were our "greatest generation".
