I really hope Jim Sterk doesn't take the Under Armour bait when the Nike contract expires. For whatever reason, Under Armour really wants the Aztecs. I don't want to see wacky alternate unis, chrome helmets, and $60 t-shirts at the Aztec store. Half the store is Under Armour now anyway and they are not even our supplier.

I don't want to see wacky alternate unis, chrome helmets, and $60 t-shirts at the Aztec store. Half the store is Under Armour now anyway and they are not even our supplier. I definitely prefer Nike WAAAAAYYYY more than UA but I understand if he "takes the UA bait" if it provides a significant amount of money for the athletic department. It is unreal that UA is going to pay UCLA $280 million over the next 15 years. www.latimes.com/sports/ucla/la-sp-0525-ucla-under-armour-20160525-snap-story.html"The resulting agreement will pay UCLA $15 million in cash up front, said a person with knowledge of the negotiations who was not authorized to speak publicly. The school subsequently will receive approximately $11 million annually in rights and marketing fees. Under Armour has committed to supplying an average of $7.4 million in clothing, shoes and equipment each school year and contribute an additional $2 million over the next eight years for upgrades at facilities such as the Morgan Center and the Acosta Athletic Complex. “There is a major arms race going on,” said George Belch, a marketing professor at San Diego State, speaking about sponsorship trends. “Nike has dominated the market for many years and you also have Adidas … now Under Armour clearly has become a major player.” SDSU's current deal with nike isn't all that great... Mountain West - Company - Annual Cash - Annual Product UNLV - Nike - $15,000 - $1 million Boise State - Nike - $30,000-$50,000 - $850,000-$1.15 million San Diego State - Nike - $0 - Wholesale price to 10% offHawaii - Under Armour - $125,000-$160,000 - $225,000-$260,000 Utah State - Nike -$0 $25 - ,000 & wholesale price to 10% off Hopefully UA does offer SDSU and Nike counters with an even better offer.

I would rather sdsu pay for Nike uniforms than get free stuff from UA. UA's stuff is garbage.

The UA Notre Dame contract is insane.
(back story) when ever someone posts a "uni thread" I respond.
I go to Baltimore for my job once or twice a year. I always bring and wear something Aztec when I am out, like everyone wears their gear when to they come to San Diego from someplace else. I was having lunch at a pricey Italian restaurant (company lunch) last year in Baltimore and walked outside for some air. I put my Aztec baseball cap on from being out in the hot sun all day seeing the sights of DC, the authentic cap made by "The Game" not Nike and this guy starts talking to me asking if I was from San Diego and if I went to SDSU. I tell him yes and starts saying how much he loves San Diego and starts examining my cap on my head asking me questions about if I buy a lot of Nike gear. I told him yes, because that's the Aztec uni supplier. He introduced himself because he could tell he was freaking me out by how he was looking at my cap, I thought he was going to rip it off my head. He was the president of Under Armour and he started asking me questions about if I liked Under Armour and if I would like Under Armour as a supplier of San Diego State, I told him yes if the gear was not priced very high. He laughed. I forgot his name. He is a young looking in his 40's guy. He said they "were working on it". In hindesight I should of told him no, because I do like Nike better. I thought maybe he would of given me some free stuff or some coupon for free stuff at the UA store in Baltimore. He didn't.
I guess anything would be better than New Balance, like Wyoming had a couple years back.

Whatever deal is better for the athletics program
They even pay some high schools. My buddy is a HS coach and they have a UA contract and new unis at no cost each year. Yeah it's HS but their uniforms haven't actually changed in design when they switched from Nike because they asked them not to change them
