If Iran goes nuclear, then what?

Some have suggested that Barack Obama's administration has already given up hope of stopping the Iranian nuclear arms program. Containment, it is thought, will be an adequate response to an Iran armed with nuclear tipped missiles.

But just what are the implications of an effective containment policy? It is quite possible that those implications will not please the pacifist wing of the Democratic Party any more than does the thought of preemptive military action.
