OK so here is a list of 3 star or less near 7 foot players:Chris Vogt 6-11 215 {scout grade} 79 3 star Soloman Roddell 7-0 230 69 2 star.................... I would take both of these players in a heartbeat both could use a redshirt,Vogt has the skill just needs more weight and Roddell needs to work on a few things has the size to shut down the middle. jc 7ft coming soon *All other HS 7 foot players are gone we did not offer any except Ayton and Mccoy who were worth going after of course, but highly improbable to sign. Since we're just throwing name out, there is a 6'10 250 3-star center at St. Paul's HS named Louis Bengai in the class of 2017 and 6'11 Malik Ondigo who moved from Nevada to PSA Academy Conn, hasn't signed yet. We looked at him over the summer. Good info thanks

This just shows you how far off our recruiting has fallen
Son of an Aztec shot blocking legend..playing JUCO ball in San Diego..not even a 4 star player and we still can't recruit him to play a position we so desperately need
I am telling you there are some lack of sales skills with our recruitment of our players and why we are in a downward trend with recruitment

What use does it give us knowing that this kid would have to sit out a year?
We have a big problem right now with no one in the middle..we are getting all these so called sniffs from Players but no commitments from players that can play right now
Real pathetic recruiting these days

Allen is being recruited to be a BACK UP at Baylor. He's a project. The fact WE weren't all over HIM is more about the weaknesses in his game & the lack of fit at SDSU. This is a kid who sat out a year & did nothing. Don't make it out as a SDSU recruiting failure. Have you thought about the fact he may not be the type of kid or player WE want on our roster? Hemsley, Narain, Max, Teki, McD, Watson, Shakel & Seiko is not a "downward trend". That's a lot of solid talent.

Jr. at SD City which would indicate we HAD a strong interest in him at least at one time or another. He didn't play this year which seems weird or possibly a lack of dedication to the game.

Recruiting isn't over for 2018 season last I checked. 4. How many teams in our conference have a "big over 200 lbs"? If Oliver stays in the draft the returning champs will most likely start a 6'7 center.

Just guessing, but he probably wanted to save a year of basketball eligibility while still getting academically eligible. Now he'll have 3 for 3, rather than 3 for 2 years left and, in theory, is now academically eligible.

In basics do not think LA jr was the fit for him or SDSU . Baylor is in his home state and he gets the family support there. As noted by Coug he is expected to come in as back up to their other 7 ft center . or could he even red shirt ? Not sure how the "play" clock works in his situation.
Believe the 6'9" 230-240 lb 5 that Coug could be talking about is Ahmed Hamdy Mohamed , grad transfer from VCU . He visited here the other week . Also has visited TCU .
Some weights from Go Aztecs: Nolan and Malik at 220 , Teki and Trey 215 , Max 210 , Jalen 190 ( same as JH )
More important then 5's in the MW - is how we will match up vs Zags , CAL and ASU .....who we will play in OOC , maybe SMC Gaels ( if Lonsdale is back ) in Wooden Classic . Or hopefully MM .

Pathetic...Narain and Pope are not centers...you and I know that..both are power forwards that have different type of game Narain likes to bang a bit..Pope lacks physicality in his game Where is Amoroso, Spencer, Caldwell, Habel, Mackell...simply no player that can bang and play the actual center position It's pretty sad that we haven't recruited 1 center since Spencer It has to be the horrific offensive sets that we run...no low post game is available...we recruit athletes but yet we don't pick up the pace of the game

Narain is more a college 5 than a 4, and it's not even close. Stretch 4's are the norm, and that's definitely not Nolan. Nobody has said we don't need a banger on D, but again, look around the conference. Show me teams which we will have no chance of matching up with even if we don't add anyone. Boise, UNLV & FSU are the only teams with "size" but do Zaney/Wacker scare you? McCoy & Dembele are tall, but both would struggle to match up with us on the defensive end, and personally I think McCoy tends to play soft. Carter, Williams & Rojas at FSU will be tough, but they can't guard us either. UNR is probably the leading team in the conference next year and Foster is the only wide body they have, but he's also 6'7. Ourside of him, and assuming Oliver does leave (which is expected), their posts will probably be the size of Max & Pope. Carvachio & Jackson at CSU? Nah. Furstinger & McDougal at NM? Nah. I'd love to add a Rooks or someone similar, but if we don't we can still compete.

Even more important then matching up with MW teams is being able to match up with OOC opponents . Zags , ASU , CAL , maybe SMC Gaels ..... If a goal is a decent MM run
We need as you mention to have some one physical down low - that is the player we need to be able to get from a grad transfer, JC ... .Josh Davis style . But we have been able to secure one. A guy that wants to play and be physical near the basket on both ends of the court . Will Nolan or Jalen be able to play that way or rely on athleticism , play D and rebound .? Nevada has Carline- who feels every rebound is his , adds Davis (JC ) plus .... . UNLV McCoy says he wants to dominate inside and they added a solid JC guy - but who knows ? CSU likes being physical , Fresno not sure . MW should be more competitive and we want to win it but first is a quality OOC performance by the Aztecs .
