Most younger people ..... meaning those under 50 ..... know little or nothing of Henry J. Kaiser and the industrial empire he created. Kaiser Permanente they probably know. But Kaiser was an industrial giant, especially in World War II. His company built hundred of Liberty ships, some in a few days. But later things went badly. I link here a piece from the LA Times (from '85) which tells the story in some detail. Worth reading. articles.latimes.com/1985-08-04/business/fi-4512_1_empireAzWm

Interesting article. My maternal grandfather, born 1/1/1880, was a blacksmith by trade. He worked the mining region around Cripple Creek, CO, late 1890s-early 1900s, then moved west to work the ag communities in Imperial and Salinas valleys up until WW2. He worked for Kaiser in Richmond during the war. They could turn out as many as 3 ships per day.
He was too old for uniformed service in WW1, let alone WW2, but I'd say he did his part.

I remember Kaiser Steel in Fontana. I believe it was the only steel plant in So Cal.
Also, an interesting tidbit. The Lake Tahoe compound used in Godfather II was Henry Kaiser's. I believe it was the largest on the lake at the time.
