LMAO. True enough afan....but then....they're going to get it anyways. Might as well make some profit off of it. You disagree? We as a society often confuse tolerance with acceptance. Legalizing the chronic says that society accepts smoking out as a legitimate activity and makes the state the equivalent of the pusher. This to me seems wrong. There are all sorts of activities we can legitimate for the sake of revenue and I suppose if you view your fellow citizens as nothing more than a funding source for government you can make a case for practically everything being legalized and taxed. That’s not what our laws and our government should be about IMO. I know from reading your posts that you’re the father of a young son. Congratulations! Parenthood is the most demanding and rewarding thing you will ever do in your life. Think about whether or not you would advise your son to take up weed and then think about how much harder it will be to convince him it’s a bad thing to do if they sell it at Wal-Mart. As you go through the process of rearing your young son to be a responsible, functioning citizen you’ll be thankful for all the societal help you can get in discouraging him from negative behaviors. But taking up alcohol or tobacco is ok? They sell those at wal-mart...

It will pass in five years or so anyway. As soon as all of the old "gateway" drug geezers kick the bucket.

This is a discussion about citizenship. Serfs like you have no place in it nor could you possibly understand the concept of how free men are to act in free societies. Run along now and pay your tribute before the king takes your Oxen. As I suspected, you're one of the Freedom Fighters who believe in limited government, until those freedoms lead to things you don't like. You don't want government intruding in your life, but want to make sure they are allowed intrude into others in the name of a civilized society. I do pay my tribute to the government. Somebody in a civilized society has to make sure people like you receive the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and that the school provides your children with a reduced price or free lunch. Paying taxes is one of the burdens of actually having a job that pays a decent salary, but there are some benefits that come from it as well, so I guess I'll keep working for you. I read the political side of the board from time to time for fun. And your post expresses much of what I think when I read the board. I never understand how many people can not see both sides of issues. However, it always works both ways, it doesn't matter which 'side' someone is on.... I have read comments from both the liberal side and the conservative side which refuse to see that for the most part things are not black and white. As for the thread topic, prop 19, I voted for it. I don't partake but felt the benefits of legalizing would outweigh the negatives. Of course, I can't predict the future so I could be wrong.
