Governors and State Legislatures will redraw congressional districts, in general, throughout the country and their decisions will last 10 YEARS. No wonder Rahm Emanuel left the White House with his tail between his legs.....

Are you saying that Republicans would gerrymander districts for their own benefit? Surely not!

Not in California though!
Let's see how independent the commission is going to be.

Moonbeam II will be rejected one day just a Moonbeam I was. Sure, the left has done all it can to change the demographics with the flood of illegal immigration allowed over the decades and the retiring of the baby boomers will be about sucking the younger generation dry. But the Hispanic community is not made up of a bunch of Gay Pride parade participants and the old folks still lean right socially. The trend to see Government as Santa Claus will continue, for sure, but that has its limits lest we become bankrupt or a 2nd rate economic power. Social conservatism will not go out of style any time soon for the majority of people, especially those with school aged children. See you at the ballot box.

Become leftist ideologues, per chance? ;D Would the changed behavior you suggest involve new values similar to those motivating the rioters in France? Let's see, just what is going on it that beautiful country? Oh, yes, 20 year olds are rioting because the government, seeing the economic train wreck that awaits them around the next bend, has had the audacity to propose that the retirement age in France should be raised from 60 to 62 years! What a dastardly thought. Are you suggesting that the US become, in essence, a one-party country in which the names Democrat and Republican refer to the same set of values and policies with different packaging and icons? AzWm

The Repubs picked up ~700 seats in state legislatures. Alabama and North Carolina went Repub in their legislatures for the first time since Reconstruction, fer cryin' out loud. By big margins. If you think immigration is going to swing the demographics, I think you could be miscalculating... many immigrants come here to escape the top down central planning tyranny that your party has been trying to impose. I have still not had a single person respond to repeated questions about what happens if California goes belly up. Will not being able to pay any bills do anything to the idea that everyone is owed a free lunch? I already heard Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown say that what he now sees that in trying to construct a budget is daunting and near impossible.

I think maybe you are drinking too much of the kool-aid offered up by the moonbats over at the Daily Kook and their angry screeds in reaction to their defeat. pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/109218/You can talk about demographics all you want, and try to hang your future hopes on pigeon-holing people into neat little categories. I don't think that will wash, for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, people of all stripes are jealous of their liberty. Your party is a glaring threat to liberty, and that has been demonstrated over the past two years. Second, the folks who think voting members of your party into power will result in getting "free stuff" will sooner or later be disappointed. There is only so much wealth that can be confiscated and given away before people give up on creating it. When that runs out, it's just tough $#!+. California will be the petrie dish for your theory. Brown and the demagogues will either collapse the economy of California and turn it into a society like Mexico, or, Brown may do what his supporters do not want him to do, and do what is happening all over Europe: cut, cut, cut. We'll see.

I believe corporations have been growing relative to unions for some time now. As for counting, I would not trust a conservative to count the number of sheets on my toilet paper roll. They will say there are too many chads.

These figures may or may not be completely accurate, but they do indicate that Republicans and conservatives have reason to reach out. Don't you think?
