You have to be more politically correct or you offend the queers. I suggest that we use butt burglers or someting like that. This post adds nothing to the discusson other than getting it to the top!

Opps! Have we offended more than just the butt buglers or just outed some? I would think that a comment after some thought about the effect on "good order and discipline" in the Armed Forces as expressed by senior officers would have been in order. Fained outrage at terms that were common when some of us were teens is a little weak.

I merely provided a link. Bigoted is defined as "utterly intolerant of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own." Nothing in my post reflects that. Of course, I probably should be accustomed to the ubiquitous slinging of epithets like "bigot" from the left. It's overwhelming sometimes, and always laughable: pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/109001/If you are focusing on the word "queer", you should know that it is an accepted term by homosexual activists: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queer_NationAs for the "go eff yourself" remark, I take it back. I was just practicing my Jon Stewart impression. He's a popular lib comedian, I understand: dailycaller.com/2010/11/01/great-moments-in-civility-with-your-host-jon-stewart/

After today, Congress is very unlikely to change any law in that regard and would most likely be spured to enact law to counter any change spured by Presidetial decree. Can you see some problem with this report that says using the term "homosexual" is offensive? I guess the use of the term common during my youth, queer, would stir up some bile.

So, because you used a 'term' common in your youth you feel that it is OK to use it now even when it is derogatory. Based upon that logic it is still OK for you to use the unsavory terms to refer to Blacks, Hispanics, and Jews that were commonly used in the 40's, and 50's. Win, society grows and matures. What was acceptable and common 50 years ago is not now. As an example, I just watched DW Griffiths "Birth of a Nation" a few nights ago. When originally shown it was hailed as a masterpiece. Now, much of the content turns peoples stomachs. We as a society have grown past those types of stereotypes.

"Birth of a Nation" was made in 1915 during a Klan resurgence.
Has nothing to do with homosexuals, or the word "queer", which as I have shown has been accepted by homosexual activists.
The word "faggot" might be considered somewhat equivalent to the "n-word" as a pejorative, but not so much with "queer".

Well, this one has run it's course.
Let's not use terms like, "Queer," in a cavalier way. If you're going to use it put it in quotes or something to indicate that you're using it the way someone in that group has used it themselves - and even then just keep in mind that someone may be offended, so a different term may be called for.
