Unless he gets hard sell from UCLA that they will not guarantee his scholarship could easily see him holding off to the Spring to see how things progress . Would make sense for him . Did UCLA start breaking ground on their new practice facility about $30 to $40 million , not sure on completion date ? Yo Stan don't kill the ju ju you know what im saying.Your killing me with the above post. Why would it make sence we have playing time here and he is from here what better scenario than that.We can put a five star in every position in the next few years and win the whole freaking thing.

Once again, his faith will guide him to SDSU......it's not the name of the team that gets you to the league...it's the name on the back

We really need a guy to play the 5 on both ends of the court . We do not really have that , Narain is learning that now for 2016. he played the 4 in HS . He knows he needs to learn to play the 5 and add to his frame .If education is paramount ,would be difficult to beat Stanford or could look at Harvard . If he wants NBA opportunity then SDSU may have a chance . Do not see Stanford or Colorado in the mix for MM . Colorado if he prefers the snow . I truly believe we'd be underutilizing Nolan if we tried to force him into a back to the basket "5" position as you like to call it. He can step out and hit a 21 footer at 6-9, he needs to be used where he can best exploit a matchup, which sometimes may be in the block, but I see him more as a high post/wing floater with the ability to set down screens and post up in the block if he draws a mismatch. Stanback is a true, bona fide center/rim protector, he or someone like him is what we need to fill the missing 5 spot you love to speak of, which I still feel isn't absolutely mandatory to this teams success. Fisher categorizes players as Bigs and Smalls, with the 3 forward spots being interchangeable as certain circumstances may call for. Our season will not abruptly end if we don't land a true center in next years recruiting class, good teams adjust, and make other teams adapt to them.

I agree Narain played the "4" in HS and seems great candidate to play there in 2016 with variety of skills as the so called stretch 4 . Stanback could be the needed replacement for Spencer / Chol but better offense . So IMO there is strong need to fill that position with hopefully Stanback .If not that could mean Narain in the 5 with a grad transfer or JUCO as reserve . Zylan could play 4 or 3 . MG-C ,if as healthy as he was in HS( that is key) could be the 3 or 2 as needed . There are also D.Allen , Kell and the M& M reserves Matt and Max - spot shooters . We also have Leaf still deciding on a school - that decision could be within 2 weeks or not until the spring .

He has taken his scheduled visits . Just think a strong option for him is to wait until Spring to see what transpires . He loses any leverage if he signs NLI . So he could always give Verbal but not sign .

Narain won't be a back to the basket 5....Think more Malcolm Thomas.
Fish and Co. coach to their players talents you will see a ton of high low opportunities when we have big men that can move around pass and Shot.
Spencer really has been our only back to the basket 5 that got major minutes. ( unless you count Camara as a big minute guy.)
But when we have had the likes of Mohamad Abukar, Malcolm Thomas, Armoroso these guys were asked to to more because of the abilities.
Crap I don't think I saw Super Manker post up once in his life. We brought him out to the 3line and used guard penetration as our inside outside game.
GO Aztecs!

He has taken his scheduled visits . Just think a strong option for him is to wait until Spring to see what transpires . He loses any leverage if he signs NLI . So he could always give Verbal but not sign . Please Stan, you have posted this same statement in every possible thread countless times. Just elect not to post if all you are going to do is repeat yourself. Why keep trying to convince TJ that he should not sign an NLI in the early period? Why keep trying to convince us that Leaf should not sign during early period? Just leave it be and assume that we have all read your viewpoint more times than any of us care to count. I realize that I am the sucker who keeps coming to read new posts in these threads wondering if there is any actual news or new thoughts, but you would do us all a favor if you would not sucker us in with "new" posts that merely repeat the hundreds of identical posts you have already made. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. If Leaf is reading this forum... do we REALLY want him to wait till Spring??? Sign that NLI in November with SDSU. Call me selfish, but who cares. He's going NBA no matter what school he goes to. Selfishly, I want his one or 2 years in college to be with us. Mr. TJ Leaf if you are reading this... sign with SDSU. Be a hero like how we treat Tony Gwynn, Faulk, Kawhi, Bill Walton, etc. You're just a number at UCLA. Not a big deal there. You'll be a big deal here. You may also get injured and UCLA backs off of you. Most schools will recruit over you. SDSU will not...just ask Pope and Chase Tapley. So don't listen to the silly posts about waiting till Spring.

IMO it is important if the goal is E8 or better for the Aztecs to have a high quality athletic guy playing the 5 position . Not a stiff that does not move well but one who uses their athletic ability similar to the guys at Kentucky , Duke or other top teams... Do we want to recruit a McCoy, Stanback or other top guy that plays the 5 ,or just do what we have done in the past ? If the goal is E* or better will need a high quality guy down low. Stanback could be the start of an athletic 5 that can do a wide variety of things .Have a guy that plays the 5 on both ends of the court. Would be great if he came down for an unofficial 11/2 and saw Spencer be an important part of the offense. Or if the coaches can go visit him .

Just dreaming here for a minute: If SDSU were to get Stanback and Leaf, and Leaf is a two and done, not a one and done. We then get McCoy in 2017, SDSU could very will be a threat to go E8 or E4! I do not think that scenario is too far out of the question.
