There's a reason we don't get true 5s Those that play with their back to the hoop don't fit well in the Fisher motion offense. The NBA is going away from true 5's. That may be a function of the lack of traditional fives. There are very few quality big men with traditional post skills. You can't play what you don't have.

whatever you want to call it . Having a taller player in the middle on D , starting out guarding the other teams tallest player or in the middle of a zone . We really use Stanback there in the middle . We do not always get HS recruits that play the 5 to sign here ,so this would be very important also gives flexibility for Narain . Would presume they would both be playing at SDSU for a few years . Not one and done.
Yes Bill you are naïve to think the "NCAA situation " is not affecting the coaching staff , recruiting ... and not in a positive way . We are talking about , other schools we recruit against talk about it -in a negative way and so recruits may recruits. I do not have any confirmed published reports what recruits have said, nor do I expect any to mention it now, but we know recruit J. McDaniels said , so I used the words "may" or "possibly ".

No it's not, it's realizing those "traditional skills" aren't very valuable, in general a play in the post is a very inefficient play.

he could probably be a variety of things , need a replacement for Spencer on D and that can also be a possible scorer down low near the basket .

Well if we don't get either Stanback or Leaf, the good news is we have great talent already. Its their choice, they can play with us, or we will unleash the Animal on them. We will be fine, I'm sure there is another great transfer who will want to play in MM. Anyone hear anything about the secret scrimmage?

Ucla likes bolden at the 4 and are very high on him, it's unlikely he would start there, I said he'd start there months ago but that looks wrong currently Good work fisherville this is true.Do not buy into this 80/20 bs regarding Leaf's recruiting. He is 50\50 right now and has a better chance to get more playing time with SDSU next year.

Yes I love the positive vibe. I think the Aztecs are the favorites due PT and staying home to play in the best environment. Just hope he doesn't make the choice to be with his AAU friends.

At this point, I would love to have him, but not making a decision is really irritating. If he really wanted to be a Aztec he would have already committed to us. He knows we would welcome him with open arms, he's waiting on if he will get playing time now with UCLA. I think it might be time to turn the page on TJ.

Cheatham waited until the last minute and choose the Aztecs, Leaf can too. It would be so awesome to rack up another 5-star to come in the door as Shepard leaves. Lastly, I do not think it is a given that Pope will leave after this year.

I wonder if the outcome of the top secret scrimmage will have any impact...and if Leaf gets invited to it. If I were him I would ask.

Lastly, I do not think it is a given that Pope will leave after this year. I don't think it is either. He seems to really enjoy the college experience. If his family is in decent financial situation, he might not have that big of a push to go for the NBA$ before he's had his fun. Of course, if he's lottery pick worthy, no one could blame him for leaving.

I believe it'd be a NCAA violation, so they'd definitely lose out on him. Unless his decision is holding up Stanback, I don't care if he holds off until November, December, January or February as long as he comes here.

The scrimmage is closed so do not expect a visit there . By the way UCLA is also going to be very good .
would agree with those who may believe Leaf could hold on to making his decision until the Spring ,or just do a Verbal that is not binding .
Getting Stanback is very important to play the 5 .

His recent interview with Scout did not seem too impressive with the UCLA official. Any one have thoughts....

Just a gut feeling but I think there's a better chance of TJ becoming an Aztec than Stanback.
