BTW - U of L enters hunt for 5-star forward T.J. Leaf, per the local fish wrap, The Courier-Journal:
"A new possibility, five-star power forward TJ Leaf, has come onto Louisville's radar of late. Rick Pitino met with Leaf, a top-25 prospect on each of the recruiting sites, on Sept. 22, and while U of L is late to the party, the Cards seem to have made up some ground. Leaf is a talented enough player that the Cards would add him even with an already crowded frontcourt."

We have 2 spots left (for 2016), correct? On scholarship for 16-17: Kell Shrigley Montaque Dakarai Derry'l Hoetzel Zylan Narain Hemsley Jalen Pope ****
That is 11, so yes as of this moment we have 2 for 16-17 year.
+ two walk ons that had a scholarship and an offer: U'u at Hartford and Perez an offer from the AFA. With the three red shirts, Teki, Max and Nolan and the Shrigs ACL tear these two may see some serious action in 15/16.

As reported by Zeigler. Aztecs usually have a select list , try to go after that group very strongly rather then go after a long list . My guess coaches hope to get verbal from any or all: Cage , Stanback , Bailey( is he a 2018 ?) and Mathews all 4 have visited , not sure if we have done in home with them . Leaf we had in home but have not heard if he will do an official or even unofficial . If not then plan B could be could be grad transfer for PF/C the major need for 2016 season .Unless there have been additional on campus visits or even visits to recruits scheduled for October ? Have not heard anything. 2017 is supposed to have a strong class of PF/C

You are correct key is signing not just listing top recruits . We did sign Narain and McDaniels for 2016 .But IMO few more things need to happen for the 2017 recruits . Sign at least one more quality PF/C for 2016 or get a quality grad transfer , quality run in MM this year to we are a SW16 or better Program , develop SS/ AC combo that uses our 5 position on offense ***. IMO we have expanded our recruiting beyond CA but if we could try to get some quality recruits from Texas would also help. Recruits do observe how a team uses players that play their position and see where they would fit in going forward. Successful year from the team and the guys playing the 5 and 4 position does help if we want to recruit those players. Many of the top recruits do care about their offense so involve guys that play the 5 in the offense.

Will be interesting to see what happens now . Did not get Cage . Hope and pray we get Stanback, but not going to be easy , or plan B ? As of today the 5 and 4 positions for 2016 Narain , Zylan , McDaniels( some thought he may need a year to add to his frame and develop) , can Max provide some back up ,he is basically a shooter . Grad transfer if there is a quality one for 2016 ? Not that often you get high quality PF/C . Josh Davis was good Greene not really .

Per Scout: Dantay Bassett, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound prospect, is down to four schools – Arkansas, Colorado, Florida and Oregon State.
“He’s visited Oregon State,” Fair said. “He’s visited Colorado. He’s going to Florida the 8th through the 10th. Then he’s going to Arkansas the 16th through the 18th. Then we’ll hope to have a decision by then.”

can not hurt to see if he might want to come visit here , if he still has not filled up his official visit list.

Going to start another rumor, that I hope comes true. Abu Kigab is a 6'7 wing at Prolific Prep in Napa, he is from St Kate's in Ontario, Canada and played on the same AAU club with Nolan Narain. He has recent offers to USC, Oregon and Kansas. He is gaining a lot of interest. Perhaps we have a UPLAY Canada connection? Class of 2017.

Yes Hepa PF for 2018 and 2017 Kigab SF could be nice additions for the future but concern could be for 2016 PF/C . Can we still get Quality physical HS guy , or grad transfer or JUCO for 2016?. 2017 seems to be year of the PF/C. 2016 front line currently Narain , Zylan ,MG-C , D.Allen , Max - better work with him at adding to his frame to help at the 4 . We are going to need a physical guy to help at the 4 /5 position.

Forgot J.McDaniels as a front court player . So front court as of today Narain , Zylan , McDaniels , MG-C , D.Allen , Max . Quality physical PF/C is needed that wants to play close to the rim , Rebound , play D , score .

Unfortunately, I don't see us signing any quality recruits this year: Vance Jackson UCon/Cal, Brandon Bailey, Mich., Trevor Stanback Col/Stan, Cyrus Wake Forest and Moore Tulane.
TJ Leaf, well lets see but chances are he'll join his other 4 Compton Magic team mates at UCLA.

Where do we go from here? Save the scholarships? Look at 3-star players or reward walk ons?

So we have 10 guys for 2016 , 11 if Malik comes back . Basic need is a strong physical guy down low . If we can sign one from the HS recruits would be great but doubtful . Stanback, Bassett, or if Ekiyor is an option do not know ? Transfer Williams or HS recruit Ben Kone look even better now , but they are gone.If not then grad transfer or JUCO . Would presume we could still add guard Moore or Cyrus or Narain 's team mate ?if we want or give Perez long look. Like it or not 2016 started out as a chance for a great recruiting class but we have not done well at all . Being second does not help. Did get 3 red shirts Narain , MG-C , and Max . Timing for BJ and then the NCAA investigation hurt . Would be interesting if recruits we lost would tell the coaches their thoughts about the NCAA . As long as it is there it can effect the recruiting going forward .

Where do we go from here? Save the scholarships? Look at 3-star players or reward walk ons? SD local Tim Harrison PF 6'8 from Francis Parker HS no longer a fall back, the 3-star player signed with Rice today....not that the coaching staff had the same thoughts I did.
