Would have added to prior thread on subject but it was deteriorating......
He's been found (& apparently acting like nothing happened). He WILL be attending SDSU this fall BUT apparently will not make it into camp, so VERY doubtful he'll see the field this year unfortunately.
Good news nonetheless. Of course, he could disappear again at any time......

Acted like nothing happened? Gawd... our program is moving in the right direction albeit slower than most of us would like but I don't like the sound of lack of accountability. I'm glad he's found and not dead. But I'm hoping moving forward he'll say and do the right things like "I'll bust my butt and make up for this" or "I'm ready to bleed red and black" or something. Rocky's tough love will be good for him I think. Hopefully the entire team will rally around him and lift him up.

And in fairness to the kid, it's possible the reason he didn't want to talk about it - at least now - is it may have been something very personal or even tragic with him or a family member, who knows? You don't want to push the kid until he gets on campus, then deal with it 1:1 vs. over the phone & potentially push him away again. IMO if the kid qualifies, makes it into school & makes it through a year he's ahead in my book. I didn't expect him to even qualify, so a disappearing/reappearing act is a bonus...

He didn't have all his academics in order and the "institutions" who are in possession of his academic paperwork are on summer break.
All we can do is wait. No need to start hating on the kid, for some, there are "bumps in the road" during the transition from HS to college. He's made it clear to Rocky that he wants to be here and play.

He isn't the first young man to Not be mentally ready to go to college . Feel messed up ,especially after expecting to go to a P5 school and then go to a G5 . Think it could be a time for Desean to go meet with the staff and have an honest discussion, is SDSU the right place for him now . Very difficult for an athlete to perform at their best if their heart and head are not in it. See if he and the coaches have a plan to work together so it is a win win for both the athlete and the team . Time for Holmes to present his opinion and thoughts , coaches to listen and make decisions to see if it can work out . There is no need for the coaches to tell us what happened , leave that up to the athlete and we move forward. We always say we are a family , are we ?

He is right where he belongs as far as skill goes we are like Boise State now and there will be four stars players every year.He might not have played much at USC looking at the recievers they get.

Read some history on the kid then tell me if you feel the same. This. He is a foster child. I shudder to think what my life would have been like at 18 if I weren't lucky enough to have two parents who cared for me. He has bigger issues than wanting to be an Aztec IMO. I hope he makes it in and has the support and structure necessary to guide him along.

This is the time to show Holmes we care about helping him in whatever way we can, listen to him , see what he is all about and how SDSU can provide the support to help him mature into an adult . Really getting an education in life . Can he handle it ? He needs guidance . Can he handle college , with or even with out football ? This is an opportunity to really help some one if he is open to that . Or do we only care, if he is really the 4 * recruit that we signed and can catch a lot of passes . We know football is a business but SDSU is also a place to get an education .

My family has been actively involved in the foster care community and I have seen kids like this before. It is likely going to take a coach connecting with him and being a surrogate father to him to really bring him along. I was very hopefully that Coach Cooper would fill that need as he seemed ideally suited for it. I say all of this without having full knowledge of the situation so I could be way off base and his foster parents and support structure could be exemplary. I am very hopeful that is the case and someone rubs my nose in it.

I bet he never wears the uniform on the field during a game for State.

Hey, he's part of the Aztec family. Treat him as such. Stop hating and start supporting.

Read some history on the kid then tell me if you feel the same. The kid is what 18 years old, how much relevant history can he have? Did he get in a fight in 7th grade or something. Some people mature a little slower than others (that's right I'm looking in the mirror.) Let's welcome him to SDSU and see if the coaching staff can't have a positive impact on him both on and off the field.

hope SDSU , AD , school and fans support him . We know football today is more business then education , maybe some guidance and caring from all of us could go a long way in helping him and others .
Was it has been reported he will not play this year , but is he at practice or just trying to get his classes and education lined up for this year? Thought Ronnie Hillman had some issues his first year trying to get into school, we waited a year and we stuck with him.

Was it has been reported he will not play this year , but is he at practice or just trying to get his classes and education lined up for this year? Thought Ronnie Hillman had some issues his first year trying to get into school, we waited a year and we stuck with him. There is plenty of support and help available. But, he has to want it. Going off the grid and not meeting deadlines won't get him any help. According to the UT article: However, Holmes has not yet returned his academic paperwork from summer school classes, so will not start camp with the team on Thursday. Because of that, Long said, “There’s no chance he’s going to play this year.”
