Jalen McDaniels. Kid is turning it up a notch. 6-9, long, mobile, good hands, can make jumpers to 22-feet Jalen McDaniels of @seattlerotary1 just out working the defense in transition. Consistently ahead of the pack today. #BigfootVegas People are really missing the boat on Jalen McDaniels. Year or so away but length, motor, instincts, production on weak side glass

Little doubt that with Zylan and hopefully Zylan being her for 2016 , after Spencer , Chol , Winston and most likely Malik leaving after the 2015-16 season . We are going to need at least 3 PF/ C 's . So would look forward to seeing what visits the coaches have tried to line up Cage , Stanhouse , J. Allen , Kone , McDaniels , Ekiyor ..... Also SF or SG ? Solomon also had a very good evaluation weekend in Vegas . Evaluation time about done . Next the harder part getting visits and signing the best guys we can .

BTW, Ekiyor blew up Narain this summer dropping 32 against him. I guess Ekiyor wasn't interested in the Aztecs.

McDaniels got an offer from Romar and U Dub. Here's part of the Scout article: Washington joined Arizona State, Boise State, Montana, Nebraska, San Diego, San Diego State, and UCF as schools to offer McDaniels. Texas and Wichita State have also kept their eyes on him but have not extended an offer yet. The Longhorns appear to be the more appealing of the two schools who have yet to offer. "Shaka Smart is a great coach and the way his teams play I think it would be a good fit for me," he said on the appeal of Texas. "I talk to him every couple days and [assistant] coach Darrin Horn every day. I've always wanted to leave home and grow up on my own, so that would give me a chance to." McDaniels is targeting a fall decision preceded with a couple of visits to Arizona State and San Diego State and should Texas offer, the Longhorns too. washington.247sports.com/Article/2016-PF-Jalen-McDaniels-Lands-Coveted-Washington-Offer-38443953

High on Jalen after summer evaluations, we need a few bigs in 2016, no Kone', no BJ, and just Nolan off the redshirt.

Any chance we are still in the running with PF/C J. Allen ? Found this on Scout.com 8/10/2015 with no mention of SDSU: “I have been hearing from Kentucky, Texas, Baylor, Kansas State, Kansas, Houston, Indiana, and North Carolina,” said Allen. About the North Carolina interest, Allen said, “We talk a lot and they are trying to get to know me and I am trying to get to know them. It has been good so far.” The Texas campus is located just minutes from Allen’s school, and Allen says he has built a close relationship with Shaka Smart since the Longhorn boss got the job. “(Smart) came to my school and made it clear that he wants me,” said Allen. “They are 15 minutes away so it is a program I am real familiar with.”

High on Jalen after summer evaluations, we need a few bigs in 2016, no Kone', no BJ, and just Nolan off the redshirt. In 2016, We still will have Zylan at 6'7 and Max at 6'8 aside for Nolan, but need more rim protection.

Believe Max 6'8" was seen as more of a shooter SF/SG , (taller version of Shrigley) then a guy that liked to mix it up closer to the basket . this is where BJ 's late decision also hurt , maybe we could have signed transfer PF/C- J. Williams instead . So our 4's and 5's as of today are Narain and Zylan for 2016 . Need help there .

But most importantly he's a player who can play multiple positions. We have Narain, Zylan & Max, but do need some more muscle inside.

So if Aztecs can not sign another PF/ C , would you say Narain at the 5 , Max at the 4 and Zylan at the 3 ? If Aztecs can sign Cage , McDaniels , Solomon ... , is Max more likely to be a reserve off the bench at the 4 or 3 ?

If Aztecs can sign Cage , McDaniels , Solomon ... , is Max more likely to be a reserve off the bench at the 4 or 3 ? We have a long time to figure that out, so nothing we have to concern ourselves with right now. Would expect at least 1, 2 or even 3 more to be thrown into the mix at the 4/5 over the next 12 months, including the possibility of a JC and/or senior-transfer.
As of today, depending on how each of them evolve over the next year I'd say Narain could play 4 or 5; Zylan the 3 or 4, and even 5; and Max the 3 or 4, and even occasionally the 2 if we go REALLY big. Less likely though IMO. Max is 6'8, 220 - nearly the same size as Chol (6'9, 220) and Zylan, really. Who knows how they'll evolve in a year's time? They're versatile players; don't pigeon-hole them. They might want Max to bulk up; they may want him to slim down & get faster. Narain could grow another inch & add a lot of weight to the frame, who knows? Zylan plays (& looks) bigger than he's listed.
Since we haven't seen ANY of them play in a real game at SDSU nor do we have any idea as to who else they'll bring in, we have no idea who'll start vs. be on the bench. Zylan will definitely have the advantage though, given he's already been in the system for a year & will be coming off a year he's seen live action.
I'd also think that Zylan, Max, Norain & even a senior-transfer would have an advantage over any FR big we'd bring in as well, but that depends on the FR and how much they evolve during their senior year (& next summer). Having seen Cage my opinion is he's nowhere near ready to play right away at the next level (i.e. more than back-up minutes), but he could really blow us this year (or fade). Haven't watched the other 2 in actual games, which IMO gives you a better picture than any highlight reel.

I think Cage could play right away, not as a 30 MPG guy, but a 20 MPG guy, the coaching staff will definitely need to get him more active but I think he has tools to be a good shot blocker and decent rebounder right away. He has some skill too though his moves are definitely not fluid.
A lineup like this would be really interesting
PG- Hemsley SG- Kell SF- ?? PF- Cheatham C- Narain
You could switch a lot, narain isn't the shot blocker that Malcolm or Skylar is/was but is a good rebounder and very skilled, cheatham should be very good rebounder/shot blocker, I like him considerably more at 4 than the 3. If you could get cage coming off bench with mcdaniels that would be interesting, though cage may start who knows. This of course assumes we get cage and mcdaniels which is no safe assumption.
