So I get an email today that presumably went out to SDSU alum's and other supporters of SDSU, which touted SDSU's version of crowd funding. What struck me immediately when I went to the website to see what it was all about, was that the only athletic crowdfunding opportunity was laughable how little funds were coming in. Strive Program SDSUGranted it's very early in the fundraising, but saving a comic book collection is beating the nutrition plan for sports...maybe they should have shown the Basketball team on the header instead...

Since Sterk just handed out a bunch of promotions for his staff, maybe they ought to cover the $5k w/ their raises.

Athletics does fund raising on their own, and those who donate directly get points and benefit as a result. Why give $150 here when that won't get you Aztec Club points? I doubt the others have fund raising initiatives on their own. I would hope people would support those more in this situation.

Want to get more of the average person involved with SDSU , going to games , watching them on TV , caring about SDSU . Go out into the communities and re introduce SDSU to the communities of San Diego . Personal relationships . Not just emails, press releases , ...

Another tired point is that they keep going to the same wells over and over and over to raise money. Maybe this is their weak attempt at reaching out to the community for help.

It sounded like a cool idea for an event Except for the 1st pitch, it appeared the whole event was for Alums and Boosters. Anybody there want to chime in?

The event at the Padres is great , as is the tours.... But if you want to grow the fan base , add some new fans , then would suggest you go out to the Malls , or sports restaurants , say hello , personal touch , hand out schedules with TV Networks , Ask fans to come watch us in person or on TV for road games . Establish a connection . Aztecs need to earn the support of the regular sports fan .

I'd love to see continued growth in the community. For example, on July 3rd the movie Back to the Future was played on the deck of the Midway for free in front of thousands. Would have been cool to see the warrior and maybe a couple cheerleaders roaming around saying hi and passing out free tix or pocket schedules. Lots of Aztec gear sitting in lawn chairs at this historic location event.

The Aztec Club is very responsive in showing up, meeting people, and generating new donors around town. I hosted a gathering in the spring that they were very supportive of and I plan on doing it again this fall. As someone who does marketing I see that they are doing lots of different things, it's a full court press. They are using a multi-disciplinary approach so you'll see lots of different things going on. I've actually be quite impressed with what they are doing with such a small team.

Think what you are doing in the community is great . But also think if there are Aztec football players , those injured or some of the freshman ..... or others that could take turns being out there shaking hands , doing "selfies", handing out schedules , would also be a step in the right direction to establish a personal connection in the community.
