I fault sterk for not having the huevos to start a new conference when he had the chance. And then he tried to sell this Garabge TV contract to us like we're dumb children. It's the worse TV contract in the history of sports. It can't be worse. LOL. Yes, it's on him to start his own conference. Makes perfect sense. (Unreal!)
The TV contract isn't on him either - if we came back the MW it was the only option. Nobody likes the TV contract (except maybe BSU & that's even doubtful), but what's he supposed to do - whine publicly? Yea, that's how an AD is supposed to act. Like AM bloggers... You make the best of your situation, stay positive, while looking at other options privately.
There is constantly talk about new conference alignment, whether taking some of the better G5s & creating something different or jumping to a P5. However, a barrier to the former is the latter. Some of the schools you'd want to partner with would jump for a P5 offer, so they're going to be hesitant to commit to a new conference.
But yea, put that on Sterk. Makes perfect sense (sarcasm).
Note to the rest of the board: My agreement with the athletics department's #1 apologist above is purely coincidental.

This proves that any alternative would be better than the one we are currently In. Yes, as the apologists argue, just about any alternative would be better than the current one State is in. So when is State going to step up and do the things necessary that allow them to move on to a better situation?

Anyone who thinks this department even needs an apologist hasn't been exposed to many others, that's for sure.

You know, my 10-year-old son's Little League coach said basically the same thing about his team shortly after he was able to draft almost every good player, including one who has since been an MLB first round draft choice, because he had coached them all before whereas four of the other five coaches were all newbies to the league. Funny how having the most to work with contributes to "well-run" athletics.

How does SDSU have the 'most to work with' on ANY front? TV revenue? NO - we see that in the article, while also realizing we rank towards the BOTTOM of the conference in that department. Donors? Again, a resounding NO. Facilities? Some are good; football & others are mediocre to poor. We all know the issue with the stadium, or lack thereof, when it comes to owning/control, and thus inability for increased revenues. SDSU's athletic department doesn't rank #1 in revenues, donations or even donors, so please explain how they have the most to work with?
I'd say we're getting the most bang for the buck, actually! Privately funding the JAM Center was a huge coup, as will privately funding the Fowler expansion.

We really belong in the PAC, but unfortunately that won't happen very soon if at all. Of course not , Can you imagine the fear PAC 12 teams would have playing at Viejas LOL? Plus we had half the fans when we beat UCLA at their house.(Pauley) We would be perennial PAC 12 champs and take all the recruits. No way would PAC 12 want us lol.

Enlighten us as to why AD Sterk is at fault for the Aztecs being in the MWC. He inherited that if you have any sense of history. Would you have preferred if he had stuck with the move to the Big East? We could be in that conference all by ourselves the way it worked out. I fault sterk for not having the huevos to start a new conference when he had the chance. And then he tried to sell this Garabge TV contract to us like we're dumb children. Chris --- i welcome new posters and their views . . to give you some perspective athletic directors do not start conferences . They help the decision makers . Sterk is one of the better G 5 ADs. He is trying to get us into more rich waters. Despite what you read from some of the uninformed here we do have quite competent leadership who are swimming upstream. Read on and learn. Go Aztecs
