This is a story that too few people, especially those under 60, are aware of. It is a story that we all should know and remember. I have been, informally, studying World War II for the last six decades; I consider myself to be extremely well informed on that conflict. That is especially true regarding the events of July 20th, 1944. Still, there was much in this piece that I had not previously known.

(By the way, 20 years and one day ago my wife and I were on the very spot where von Stauffenberg was shot.)
