I want SDSU mentioned in any article that would include any teams being added to the B12, or ANY P5 conference. And even with the recent improvement in the football program, we have a ways to go to elbow our way to the top of the left-out 5 conferences. The guy wasn't even making any suggestion about who should be invited, he was simply parroting names that are out there. And this is not some random blogger, this is a guy associated with WVU media, a B12 member. He has a built-in agenda given WVU's position, yet he wasn't touting anyone in specific. Some of you guys are eat up with the "woe is me" infection. The inferiority complex is deafening. If you think I have a "woe is me" attitude, you are sadly mistaken. All I want the Aztecs to do is win more games than they currently are. That happens, and we push our way into more P5 expansion discussions.

However, trust me when I say there are valid reasons for pessimism. Although I'm no longer in the loop, I used to get a lot of inside info from various sources and the stoopidity of SDSU's athletics department once knew no bounds. Granted, things have improved but I just don't sense that there's an acknowledgement of the urgency of the situation like there is at places like Houston and Colorado State. BTW, check your personal messages in 15 minutes or so and I'll share some background. Why would you air out dirty laundry that is a few years old, especially to someone who is just here casually and doesn't really care about SDSU's past bs? Worse than a nosey neighbor who has to gossip about everyone else.

The article never states SDSU is not in the race. Not once. Nor does it mention us at all. That is my point--it's time for the Aztecs to step up. Mine is not a "woe is me" attitude, as another poster stated. It is what it is. We are getting better, but we aren't there yet. This is a great time to step up. This is what I want to see. Get our name out there with a 10 win season. At least.
Getting our name mentioned in an article has zero impact on the selection process. Just because we aren't seeing or hearing the name from scribes doesn't mean we're not "stepping up". Don't confuse the two. They're not related.
PS. Winning 10 vs. 9 or even 8 games is not going to decide if the B12 considers us for inclusion. The formula is a LOT bigger than that.

And if you think these P5 conferences are just looking for a team that's good enough to beat them......well you know the rest. All they want to know is can you fill a stadium, can you compete well enough and have the chops to get people to tune in? Are you willing to commit to the big time? You can't wait for wins. If you bank P5 membership on that, you will be waving from the docks. You can't say, "Let us work our G5 plan, and then take a good hard look at us."
You have to get with the program NOW, and say "Hey! Look at what we have to contribute!" Use your stadium problem to your benefit. Turn the adversity around. "Guys, we are going to be playing in a beautiful new stadium, one way or the other. Either the Chargers stay and we play in their palace, or we will build one ourselves." Whatever you have, use it. Whatever you don't have, get it, or at least make a commitment to get it. Make some gestures. Host a big-time basketball tourney (men's and women's) and a big-time baseball tourney and invite the top B12 teams to come out. Get on some B12 football schedules and offer 2 for 1's to do it. Take the women's track team to the Texas Relays. Ask Baylor to put you in their softball tourney. Swim a dual meet at UT. Play in a golf tourney at OU. Join the B12 as an affiliate member in Rowing (like Alabama, Tennessee and Old Dominion). Do everything that you can to show you belong.

I agree with you. I also want the Aztecs to win more. Nothing wrong with that.

I believe Sterk and the entire Athletic Department have done a very good job in improving our success in the classroom and on the field while utilizing "good character" athletes. Despite BSU's success in Football, overall we are the class of The Mountain West Conference. For these reasons I have some trust and belief that Hishman /Sterk and all those will be able to bring the Football Program to excellence and give us the best possible chance for inclusion into a P5 league (B12 ?) when expansion occurs. It will however take a focused effort and will be much more difficult than what they have done to date.

We've had discussions with B12; we continue discussions and I'm sure we will continue to do so. We have an AD who's known the B12 commish for years and just spent time with him last month. We have a major fundraising push going on with Coryell Legacy, and we'll be opening the JAM center and expanding Fowler. Don't confuse what the press thinks with reality. The B12 isn't going to partner with someone because they yell the loudest and/or happens to get mentioned in a WV paper or on ESPN. Our administration is well aware of what needs to be done to help make us a viable candidate. Time to fess up. You work somewhere in the athletics department. That or your best friend or a family member involved in decision making does.

I'd like to know too. Thanks for all the great work I've heard you have done for the Aztec Foundation/Club. In all honesty, it's greatly appreciated. Sadly, I can't say the same about a couple of our former ADs and coaches and to you, I'm just going to leave it at that.

Holy criminy! The guy just gave you the blueprint for B12 membership, one that is ideal for the league, and all you can think about is that he didn't mention SDSU in the article! That's sad. He also didn't mention Colorado State, South Florida, UConn, Fresno State, or Whack-a-Doodle U. So freaking what! Don't miss the horns by staring at the balls. This is an opening for your AD. If he gets together with five of those other ADs and they put a proposal in place that shows the B12 how they make money with the plan, and the B12 folks are still lukewarm, releases the proposal to the PUBLIC, there is almost nowhere for the B12 to go. How can they say that they turned down a proposal that made their members more money, and threw away a billion dollars for six other schools at the same time? don't spend time on MOW He's pusillanimous

Hard to believe B12 wants a west coast presence, especially at a non-power school like SDSU. Boise State has a far better chance of being noticed than SDSU when it comes to this. They have proven that they can win and they have shown they can "run" a conference. The fact that they've manipulated MtnWorst as they have financially is testament to that.
