sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5711336The conference needed to split into divisions in order to stage a lucrative football title game. It will be played in December 2011 at the home of the team with the best overall conference record. Well at least for now the pac won't be holding any additional games in The Murph!

BTW, with the new pacfudge conference split SDSU has now become a very attractive opponent for wazzu & osu! Sterk should be aware and he should gouge them for all the $$ he can get just to give them a way to visit San Diego!

The conference will switch from an appearance-based model where the Los Angeles schools traditionally earned more money to an equal sharing of football television revenues when a new TV deal kicks in starting in September 2012.
Right now with U$C being on NCAA probation of sorts, this won't matter. However, once Trojans football again becomes great as it inevitably will, this isn't going to sit well with them at all. In fact, if BYU is successful as an independent (however doubtful that may be) and if Texas then goes indy as I expect will occur, this is exactly the kind of thing that will drive U$C out of the Pac.
If SDSU's football program actually reaches its potential in the interim and the Pac stays with its travel partners philosophy, we would be the most likely candidate to replace the Trojans. (Say I'm living in some alternate universe if you will, but I honestly believe that.)
