Wow! The PC police will get you if you don't watch out! Juan Williams, a well-known and slightly left of center African-American reporter has just been canned by his employer, National Public Radio, for something he said on The O'Reilly Factor. Immediate, and heated, responses from Right and Left have been forthcoming. The following link will let you see and hear only a part of the discussion on O'Reilly's show that is in question. The Washington Post had a link to the whole segment, but I'm having trouble getting that right at the moment. It's better to hear the whole thing. If I can get the WP link I will add that to this discussion. (In case you are not familiar with Williams, I should add that he is well known for his positive civil rights views.) www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2010/10/21/npr_fires_juan_williams_after_muslim_remarks_.htmlAzWm

I think NPR was already having an issue with Williams because of his FOX connection. "Liberals" on FOX are mostly lap dogs happy to be getting a big fat pay check to bend over for O'Reilly, Beck and especially Hannity. Why do you think Colmbes left?? I would love just once to go on with Hannity. I would get kicked off in a heartbeat, but I wouldn't give that guy one single inch. He is an a*s hol*. If I want straight news I would go to NPR before Fox by the way.

I hope you are not falling into the trap of turning on commentators just because they do not always echo your political notions? I will remind you that Fox has had people such as Frank and Sanders on, and I seem to recall not none of them barked and panted. AzWm

I am smart enough to analyze for myself. FOX does not assume that for their audience...they "play" them".. for a lot of cash by the way.

Well, that is a pretty safe assumption since NPR does lean to the left. How far to the left they lean depends on which side of the fence you're on.

Juan Williams is a pretty good authoritive voice for liberal thought.

I don't think that the straight news programs on either Fox or NPR are politically biased. NPR examines issues much more deeply. The commentary shows are another matter entire. Even "straight news" programs introduce political bias depending on what they lead with, what they ignore, the tone they present the info, the direction they go with the "in-depth"reporting, etc. NPR is absolutely guilty of that sort of bias as is NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN and FOX. During the Bush years, the news always led with the nightly terrorist bombing or IED attack. Now, you would barely know that we are in a war. I recall during the election season in '08, a CNN station was always on an overhead monitor at my gym and at 12:00 noon, without fail, CNN would either lead with a laudatory story or be at a rally for Obama or have some bad economic news and associate it McCain & GOP. Never was it Palin whipping up a crowd at a rally at Obama's expense (save for Fox). All reporting (or non-reporting) true events nonetheless. "Straight news" reflects the values and political leanings of the producers and we all know it.

I listened to the quote this morning. NPR should be ashamed of itself.
It is rumoured that they received a lot of pressure from "Muslim Rights Groups" AKA CAIR. CAIR receives much of its funding from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and it's state funded Wahhabi sect.
Total BS.
