Very interesting summary of the U.S. post-WWII occupation of Japan. Worth looking at. Of course, the Japanese were totally shell-shocked and therefore willing to cooperate (though a few dead-enders thought otherwise).
My attention was drawn especially to Chapter 5. Notice the difference in terms of demobilizing and releasing Japanese service-men practiced by the U.S. as opposed to the way the Russians acted.
