From Scout.com on Kevin Samuel. Samuel reported to have interest from Fresno State (verbal commit) and Boise State (scout) in the MW. Sounds like a player that we would consider, comes out of Texas. Houston after in after losing out on Jarrett Allen.
"The 6-foot-10, 220-pound 2017 center from Houston St. Thomas Episcopal was all over the place on defense, blocking shots and rebounding, while on offense he scored on the glass and made some impressive passes.
He's got a terrific frame with wide shoulders and long arms, plays very hard and has terrific instincts on defense."

Lots of discussion around Evan Batty, out of Villa Park, CA. He has a few MWC offers. Not in the typical Aztec mode, positive reports from the NBA 100 camp.
"I like a unique player. Evan Battey is a unique player at 6-7/280. Nimble/nifty on the offensive end. Hard to describe but effective 2 days."
Reggie Rankin, USA Today. "Big Evan Battey has continued to display great offensive versatility. Scores in and out to the arc. @espnrnhoops"
This from Scout.
When it comes to his recruitment, Battey has numerous offers with a lot of schools picking up the interest. “I have offers from Fresno State, Utah State, Nevada, Cal State Fullerton, James Madison, LMU, San Jose State, and San Diego,” listed Battey. “I’m hearing from Boise State, Clemson, Oregon State, and Colorado.”
In terms of visits, Battey has set up.
“I have a visit to Boise State coming up soon,” said Battey.

That's like pointing to Kenny Sailors and saying there are lots of 5-10 white guys who have had a career in the NBA. Do you have an example more contemporary with, say, The Brady Bunch Movie instead of The Brady Bunch?

Moved into ESPN Top 100 over a number of current recruits, watch film, he can shoot, pass, play D on the wing and score from inside. Don't sleep on the big guy, he could be playing for Fresno, BSU or better and working us, inside and out. Unseld meets Barkley type.

I thought Malcolm Thomas was a pretty good center when it came to passing, scoring, rebounding, defending and blocking shots. The NBA measured him @ 6' 7 1/4". That was big enough for the Aztecs and the mwc.

Malcolm had played the 5 at Pepperdine , he also had Billy White , K. Leonard as his forwards . Does matter who you have at the forwards . As we have also seen , doing well in MW is important but also even more important is when we play opponents in OOC and MM , where we do need a guy that is at least 6'8 " or 6'9" that wants to play in the middle for D .
Aztecs have Jalen McD coming in at 6'9" but he has said he prefers to play the 4 away from the basket .
July will be evaluations across the country in AAU events. Then try to see who the coaches can line up for visits end of summer into fall and of course signing .

UT article seems to infer that both McCoy and Anyton are long shots to sign with the Aztecs . Couple of guys 6'7" were listed on our recruiting hopefuls that play forward positions . July is evaluation time for the coaches as they go view players all over the country in sanctioned events . Any rumors out there on who we maybe looking at that plays the 5 position ? To replace Valentine Izundu ?
