I suspect that most people do not really understand the difference between a profession and an occupation. A professional is a person who is independent and belongs to a professional class, such as physicians, architects, engineers, etc. But that independence that has characterized the professions is eroding on many fronts. This is especially true in the case of medical doctors. The trend away from independence (e.g., the small town MD who has his own office and practice) has been going on for a long time, but under ObamaCare it's going to accelerate. I don't know about you, but I'm not really keen to have all doctors become employees whose relationship with their employers is not a lot different from that of the janitors who clean up the office at night. But read this for more details and see what you think. You may well find some disturbing things that our Brave New World is going to hand us. www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/killing_marcus_welby_FLnABqCKwpyF9j2i9YYpCPAzWm

You are a fool if you think that Obama is causing this. It is the medical insurance companies that began this decades ago. My doctor who used to have his own practice now works for Scripps Clinic and is an HOURLY employee. While he is not a supporter of "Obamacare" he is a vocal advocate for any health care model which eliminates the insurance companies.

The cost of Malpractice Insurance is probably just as much to blame and Obama refusing to start health care reform in that logical place is just making the problem worse.
