I did not watch the entire game, but saw majority of the 1st half. Yes, Arizona has a few good players, but team is not very good. UNLV still plays out of control and cannot shoot the ball very well from the perimeter, but UNLV has several athletic players with length.
Rashad cat can play. Arizona cannot shoot the ball from the perimeter and has no bench! Arizona will some games, but team is not Top 25 when it BEAT UP by a struggling UNLV bunch.
However, this year's UNLV team will pass the ball, play hard and give effort on both ends of the Court.
If Arizona's front line does not get it together, team may be in for a long season.

Arizona played horrible down the stretch. They missed a easy lay up to go up 1 & got a few rim jobs in the closing 2 minutes.
Unlv tried to give it away but held on with the hometown crowd!

News flash: We can't shoot either. UNLV will be hanging tough all season long. They are scary talented.

We had plenty of chances to win in Maui. It would have given us two great wins for the conference

Tecpride, I like Archie Miller, but Arizona team this season like last season's team lacks a "go to player and/or a player that can consistently score the ball." Arizona's bench is awful! I thought the York player finally stepped up and made some shots, but I do not know why ball kept going to Caleb T. and Hollis-Jefferson.
McConnell can make a shot every now and then, but he is not a very good outside shooter. Johnson should be their "go to player", but he tends to play out of control. In last night's game against UNLV, I noticed that his game can be neutralized when he is playing against athletic players with length!! Also, he gambles a lot on defense for steals, so he can race down court for a dunk. I believe if Johnson slows down and take his time, he could cause havoc against his opponents.
The most disappointing and over-hyped player is Ashley. You never know what he is going to do or when will he show up for the game! Ashley has the skill set to be a formidable BIG, but it seems to me that he is not there "mentally." Ashley should be averaging a double-double every game!
And, poor Caleb T, he cannot stay out of FOUL trouble and he, like Ashley, should be averaging a double-double. Yes, Arizona will win some games, but their Top 25 ranking is suspect. The reason my post may seem dramatic, I cannot believe Arizona lost to UNLV. But, UNLV's length and their willingness to play as a team, right now, is scary!
Cody Doolin, whom I believe plays like he has taken a couple of pills before the game and looks like he just left the asylum, he is a pass-first guard who is willing to get the ball to his teammates and is not hunting for his shot and looking to score. UNLV could be the MWC League "spoiler team" this season. The upset win over Arizona at the Thomas & Mack last night rears its ugly head of, Why the MWC Tournament should not be played on UNLV's home court. UNLV could get a roll during the MWC Tournament and win the same because they are playing at HOME!!

So if you are saying that they are like last years team you are saying they are good enough to be one of the final 8 teams in the country come tournament time. Which DEFINITLY makes them a top 25 team

BUT, they also have the inconsistency to go out and get drummed by 20 next week when they play Kansas. I think they'll get better as the season goes on, but one big win isn't enough for me to hand them any sort of season accolades yet. They're just too touch and go under Rice.

LOL not a top 25 team? They're a top 10 team... just because a team loses a game on the road it doesn't mean they aren't a top 25 team. Duke lost to Drexel last year so Duke shouldn't have been a top 25 team? Anything can happen in any given game. Plus UNLV has a lot of talent.. if they can manage to put together a game where they actually play well together they can beat almost anyone

Boy, that took about a week to go from "2015 MWC Champs" to staring down the barrel of 3rd place.
On the other hand, maybe all this (dropped from rankings, CSU rise into rankings, Rebs over Zonies) is just the sort of cage-rattler we needed.

Arizona lost on the road . So will a lot of other teams . Especially when you need strong game from your freshman. They are a good top 25 team , Texas lost at home .. The UNLV win will help the conference and their rating could really go up if they can win at Wyoming 12/31 . UNLV has very good freshman talent that will be very good as the season goes on . That is another reason Aztecs need to get Pope and other under classmen more PT . Also agree the MW T can not be played on any one 's home court .

Give Vegas credit where credit's due - those kids have no shortage of fight in them - Christian Wood impressed last night in the paint and Vaughn will be playing in the Association within a couple years. CLC may have recruited enough talent to win despite his lack of coaching aptitude, but even then I thought he did a good job last night isolating the right players and going hard at the AZ bigs to help them pick up enough fouls to get them off the court. AZ may have played their worst game of the year last night, but unless Vegas had been playing at a relatively high level for the full 40 minutes, they weren't knocking off the Cats.
(Notice what good things can happen when you take care of the effin rock).
IMO AZ is simply cycling through their repsective ups and downs like 99.9% of all good teams do over the course of a season, and while they don't have Hops Johnson or Gordon the Lessor Douche on the roster this year, Stanley Johnson is legit, TJMc is the best PG in the Pac, and they have one of the best FC's in college hoops with the trio of Hollis-Jefferson, Ashley, and Twgcvbqgrtwqswklwk (sp?).
I honestly think our 1-pt. loss in Maui was more a reflection of the high level at whcih we were playing, and that Vegas deserves at least as much credit for holding serve on their own court as AZ deserves admonishment for the loss. Face it - they own the conference's marquis OOC win this year. Meanwhile at the Hall of Justice, our road fu is as of yet unproven this season and to date uncharacteristically weak, enough to make our repeat as Kings of the Molehill anything but certain at this point IMO.

Is TJMc a better PG than Delon Wright?

^ Fair point, and I think Wright is a greater (single) component of the Utes' success than TJMc is for AZ... He's definitely putting up the best numbers.
Call TJMc "one of the best" PGs then, but I would likely extend that qualifier to all of Div I, not just the Pac.

Sorry miners, but you may be the only person around here with this sentiment. Arizona is legit. Teams have bad games. It happens. And let's not forget that UNLV has a lot of talent and can be really dangerous when they put it all together.

Is TJMc a better PG than Delon Wright? Have to throw Goss from Washington in the mix as well. TJM does a good job of getting other teammates involved. But when it comes to making a basket in crunch time, he doesn't have the offensive skills to do it. It showed last night when he gave up an open jump shot, and he ended up turning it over trying to pass. Then missed two wide open 15 foot jumpers. Both Wright and Goss can get you buckets. The question mark last year and this year was does Arizona have the guards to match their frontcourt. With Johnson now gone, it's an even bigger question mark now.
