I didn't realize ao many SDSU fans were basketball coaches.
It's funny how there are so many idiotic posts here about who should be playing, who shouldn't be playing, who should get more/less minutes, who sucks, blah, blah, blah. Let the real coaches do their job.
Winston said it best last night, "We've been living off our hype from last year."
Let's allow the coaches and players figure it out. If the season doesn't end you want it to. Then complain at the end when there is a full body of work to look at.

Maybe most fans agree with Winston that the team is playing off of last year's hype . Maybe many of the guys are not performing as well as they or we fans believe they can play ? There is a lot of talent there that could improve and play even better then they are lately . Or as UT writer wrote back in the Spring , PG is a question mark that could take a while to solve . It could take a while for the team to get it all together , will fans get impatient early when the losses appear ?. Looks as though Zeigler nailed it , last spring .

The things that are causing the Aztecs troubles are so minute throughout the game. A missed pass here, a fumbled ball there, a missed layup.... so many little things that come with guys learning to play together. Add them up and it appears to be worse than it really is. It will get better.
Does that comment make me a coach or a fan with an observation?

Typical Oh ok, so we just won't post anything The whole point of forums is to discuss and argue about the team/program. What do you want us to say? It's what makes this website entertaining. We can't all be cheerleaders, then it'd be boring

it is completely fair to get frustrated with loses or to voice opinion how the team is playing. It is ridiculous to think by watching 2 games a week on TV gives us more insight on who should be playing and how many minutes and which position each player should be playing. The coaching staff is spending 6+ hours a day with the team, plus breaking down film, and know each players strength and weakness therefore let's not take ourselves too seriously....

Please advise. The Real Oracle Out Both, unless you actually back it up with relevant stats. He's the 2nd most efficient offensive player on our team thus far (behind only AQ), one of our best passers, a solid defender & someone who comes up with key plays at key moments. The coaches see this in him, as do many of the fans.
If you're saying he shouldn't start to ease his minutes but should be on the court at crunch time, that seems defendable. But simply saying he should not start tends to imply you don't think he should play much, period. That conclusion may be a reach on my part, so sorry if I miss interpreted your initial quote.

In reality what you produce during game time is what counts on the score board , plus a W or L . Coaches can watch player M hit 7 of 10 threes in practice then go 1 for 5 , or 0 of 7 in a game. They can also observe that we are scoring well when we attack the basket. and suggest we continue to run those plays and limit the threes . Work on breaking their press during practice but then see the guys mess up when the game starts . Unfortunately what a player does during the 6 hours of practice does not always translate to what happens in a game and you need to make adjustments. But should be able to see we are athletic do things that enable them to use our skills . Our 3 point shooting has not been consistent so limit it and players that rely on it . Also give Pope more PT . We need guys that have played PG against a press , not learning on the job training.

Actually, many of us ARE coaches. Let me cite an example. I personally have coached several NBA teams to championships, and a couple of college teams to the Final Four. All under different names, of course. Come on, the whole idea of fan boards is to allow armchair coaches to express themselves. AzWm

We can't all be cheerleaders, then it'd be boring Let me translate what the OP meant. 1. It's ok to not be pleased with the team's performance, even the players are realizing that they need to do better. 2. Realizing the truth of number 1. above, there is no reason to be a douche fan about it nor be a sh*thead to our coaches or players because you are upset. 3. Fisher didn't unlearn how to coach between seasons. I hope this helps our new bandwagon fans. Amen?

The failure of hitting wide open 3s when we broke the press, allowed the press to continue and actually be intensified. If we hit a few of those 3s, the press would not have been nearly as successful because they would be forced to back off.

Sadly, some folks seem to think they actually do have insight and do know who should be playing.

The Real Oracle appreciates your thoughtful response, but could you define "efficient"? Taking into account minutes, pts, off rebounds, turn overs, and assists The Real Oracle ranks JJ as the 2nd least "efficient" starter (Spencer as the least "efficient"), and both Chol and Quinn are ranked ahead of JJ. You, sir, are a jackass. This board is set up to post opinions. Some are opinions on what changes the coach may make to improve this team. You act as it everything is in order and that a bunch of reactionary chicken littles are worried that the sky is falling, this team has major problems. Things will have to change. Fans post theories on what those changes, will, should, or could be. How do you know that the coaching staff isn't having these same discussions? You people are as upset as anyone on this board. Instead of voicing dissatisfaction with the teams poor performance you'd prefer to view yourself as a "true fan" and misplace your anger towards fellow fans who have zero influence on how the game is played.

Coach Fisher warned us early, he was not sure what type of team he would have. WE built the castles in the sand near the ragging tide. WE (the fans) pushed the expectations to new heights based on "last year" and the new recruiting class. WE also thought that Fisher could wave his magic wand and ZAP we are going to the Sweet16 AGAIN. Who among us REALLY predicted a Sweet 16 back in late October. NO ONE!
In our prognostications, and I include myself, WE did not fully consider the impact of ZC coming to camp with a broken foot, Pope's entry date, Shrig's cheep shot, and AQ's broken hand. These unknowns will and did all add up in the short run.
Frustrated, you bet, bleeding Red and Black, you bet. But posting on this blog items that demean the kids (yes they are young men) and the coaching staff is really not helping anyone. Let us fill the arena next home game, let us yell and scream our support, let us let them know that win or loose they are OUR team. Our relationship with this team should be a marriage not a dating game. We true fans are not going down the street to watch USD just because they botched the Cincy game. NO
X out
