Simply stated, tonight's Championship game in MAUI has serious implications and ramifications in the Nation's basketball landscape. San Diego State and Arizona have been involved in thriller games over the last four years. Arizona closed the door on San Diego State's first Elite Eight and potentially, Final Four Team last season!
Tonight, San Diego State has an opportunity to beat up Arizona for the prestigious MAUI Title and move up to one of the Top 5 teams in the Nation! The Pollsters would have no choice with WINS over BYU, Pittsburgh and Arizona. Other than Kentucky, no other Top 10 is playing as well as San Diego State. The Championship game tonight reinforces the recruits belief that San Diego State is the College of Choice in the West Athletically and Academically! Let's go Aztecs!

Take a look at Point Guard U...a U of A fan forum
Some of their fans now agree. And that's why they don't want to play us anymore. LOL

Zags did add a lot of talent and are rated above us . they have a very tough OOC ,know they need it other then BYU in their Conference for a good MM seed
Some of their upcoming games 11/26 Georgia - T in NY 11/28 Minnesota or St Johns also at the T AT ARIZONA 12/6 AT UCLA 12/13
then start WCC at BYU on 12/27
so we should get a good idea about the Zags . We play one of their major rivals in NW at Washington 12/7 , also game at Cincy 12/17 so by 12/ 20 , we get a very good clue of our West Coast Rivals

Gonzaga and many "experts" believe they are best in west and final 4 bound. And that's a good thing. We definitely need more elite teams in the west. UCLA could have a say in the "Best in the West" conversation before the year's over. They haven't played any notable teams yet, but Norman Powell and Bryce Alford have improved a lot. Also, Kevon Looney is an absolute beast. They are playing Gonzaga and Kentucky in December, so we'll find out soon if UCLA is for real.

Kentucky could beat the Lakers No...they couldn't. I saw a hypothetical line from Vegas if Kentucky played the 76ers (probably the worst team in NBA history) and it had Philly -18.

Looks like I jinxed them. I'd be fine with UCLA having a down year, but they definitely have some impressive talent on the team.

We want national respect but refuse to respect Arizona and what they have accomplished. I tend to agree with the UofA fans .... our fanbase is intolerable AND seriously lacking in college BB history. WE are the wannabes here ..... kind of like New Mexico (a program that has accomplished NOTHING of significance nationally). Declaring ourselves the best in the West - even though Gonzaga is rated higher?

It's a big game tonight only in the context of this season and how it affects the Aztecs…... this season.
Of course, it's fun to renew the rivalry, too.

Fisher and Few should work on a home and home Gonzaga vs SDSU. Or how bought this pitch a Best of the West Challenge in SD over thanksgiving. It was over 80 degrees, SD is a destination and Viejas is a fan friendly area.
Have Gonzaga, SDSU as anchor teams; select the top Big West team, a Pac 12 club and we take on the NCAAs best conferences/teams (Big East, Big 12, ACC, Big10).
Who wants to help organize it with me.
