This is a hell of a negative thread to begin just before Christmas, but it's important to understand what is going down with respect to health care in this country. Many Americans are going to scream bloody murder when it becomes obvious just how disastrous this bill is. Those who voted for Obama and the other Dems should keep their mouths shut, however; they made this medical care coup d'etat possible. (I hold special scorn for the Minnesotans who voted for that clown, the one who gave Harry Reid his 60th vote.) This is the first of two or three articles I will link to; all make clear what damage this bill will cause once it becomes law. Our only hope is that the voters will wake will wake up and throw the Dems will out of office. spectator.org/archives/2009/12/23/too-many-democrats-in-washingtAzWm

There are too many things being changed for anyone to really understand all the consequences. They should scrap this and start piecemeal. Maybe just letting it go and the results will show the country that they ust throw the Democrats out would be OK.

Even if some of the really bad things get left out it will still be horrible. There are too many things being changed for anyone to really understand all the consequences. They should scrap this and start piecemeal. Maybe just letting it go and the results will show the country that they ust throw the Democrats out would be OK. I understand your idea, but there is great danger inherent in this bill if it passes in a form even if only partly identical to the Reid version. It's clear that people very, very hostile to free enterprise (i.e., anything not a governmental agency) are responsible for the many features of this proposed legislation. Allowing even a modified version to become law might, eventually, damage the image of the Democrats. But in the meantime fundamental changes to our health care system, ones that are not and will not be popular with the mass of the voters (e.g., how about many millions of citizens STILL not insured even if this monster takes effect), will be put in place. And once they are in place, they will likely be irreversible. That, of course, is just what the Far Left (aka those who control the Dem. Party) understands and wants to achieve. It would be better to strangle this bad seed in its crib than to let it mature and metastasize. (Forgive the mixed metaphor.) The more fundamental issue is this; is there any point at which the Democrats/Far Left will say, Well, that's enough power given to the federal government? Once having gained control of the health care field, which is precisely what this bill does, and once having the power to step in and seize virtually any business on the grounds that it presents a "systemic risk" to the national economy (See treas.gov/press/releases/tg227.htm; Currently, this one is flying under the radar), what else does it take for the U.S.A. to become a semi-totalitarian, top-down, command and control nation in which vague concepts of fairness and "social justice" trump liberty at every turn? Not much, it seems to me. (By the way, I use the term "semi-totalitarian" because I do not believe, at this point at least, that even the worst Left-Wing types are capable of having opponents murdered outright. Imprisoned? Hmmm . . . that may be a different story.) Soon it will be totally nonsensical even to imagine that this nation is based on the concept of maximum liberty for the individual and limited and clearly defined powers exercised by the government. It surely has been trending in that direction since the first third of the last century. AzWm
