Besides winning a NC, the other wish that I have for this season is to beat BYU. Would be a nice Christmas present for most Aztec fan. I believe offense will show up on Monday. We went through scoring droughts last season and thrived. We will come through again.

I still have Jimmer nightmares. Our 'Pope' will restore balance against BYU.

Hopefully the offense will get in gear otherwise it will be a long trip to Maui just to get embarrassed by BYU on Monday.
They won't show any mercy!

Relax, when you flop quads, you don't want to go all-in right away.

BYU will test our defense...and I am concerned as to our offenses ability to outpace theirs. I know this was last year, but Utah was 11th in the country in FG%. NDSU was 1st, and this years defense might be better. Our horses have been tested before and have shown that defense beats offense. Not sure where BYU is ranked, but I'm sure we will be ready.

As of today:
SDSU - 5th in the nation in points allowed. 280th in points scored.
BYU - 4th in the nation in points scored. 198th in points allowed.
Monday night can't get here fast enough. Really looking forward to this matchup!

Five blow up air dancer advertising thingmabobbers would at this point be a challenging defense for our boys. Our lineup is making it too easy for even average teams to defend us. That wasn't exactly the Syracuse zone that we faced yesterday.

Somehow I think we'll be okay.
But yes, must beat BYU.

Really looking forward to this matchup! yBu has impressively scored over 90 points in each of their games. Granted one of those games was 101 points against a Div. III team and they did score 95 points against Long Beach. Strength vs strength...bring it on.

byu traditionally loves to run. The Aztecs have the depth to outrun 'em.

This is a great match up. See what matters more... Offense or defense.

Does the school who must not be named play a zone?

I was just thinking how--while of course I would love LOVE to beat ybu above all else--the Mon game against them is technically THE most important game of the Maui Invitational for us. Yes, I know how important and am hoping for a match against the likes of Arizona... but gotta keep in mind that, if our offense doesn't supply enough scoring and we do not beat ybu on Mon, then we not only walk away with that painful concept we also lose the opportunity to potentially face the other worthy opponents in Pitt, K State, and of course Arizona, unless Purdue, Mizz, or Chaminade can send someone to the other side of the bracket. Hence, beating ybu is absolutely critical here in the long run. Let's get it done, knock all of 'em off and display our dominance. I really think we can given that our defense is simply just scary... need more help on offense though, if only just a little.
GO AZTECS!

Scary defense, scary offense. byu will use their size to zone the Aztecs. It's their best chance to win the game.

Scary defense, scary offense. byu will use their size to zone the Aztecs. It's their best chance to win the game. I pray (metaphorically speaking) they don't play a zone. Looking at stats...they haven't used their size all that much this year. Their small guards eat up most of the minutes. The only big man getting regular minutes is Nate Austin (4.7 PPG 7.7 RPG 0.7 BPG). No one on their roster blocks more than 1 shot per game. Whole team is at 3 Blocks per game. I think we will match up very well on our defensive end. I imagine they want to get out and run like their teams in the past. We just need to limit that, and their offense will struggle. Hopefully more than our offense.
