After the "Ohio" game.

I'm sure Michigan has a short list for AD and preferred Football coach ready to go. I'm guessing the new AD will be in place by December and Hoke will officially be gone the second the game hits 0:00 of the final blowout (Ohio State) of the season.

I figured as soon as the email thing was published it was just a matter of time until he was gone. Hoke will be fired right after OSU unless he loses two games before OSU then he'll be gone before.

You may call me crazy but I think there is a decent chance (maybe 30%) that Hoke will be back coaching on the Mesa next season in some capacity. Rocky seems to like him and he knows San Diego.

To those not butthurt over the way he left, Hoke did a great job at SDSU. So I for one would be pleased if that happened.

no way is hoke coming back. He may have failed at Michigan but many schools would take him as head coach, some even in the P5 I'm sure. He isn't going to take a backward move out of michigan just to take an even further step back into an assistant coach's job at SDSU. If he takes an assistant position, it'll be in a P5 program.

I don't really care how great a coach or how great a guy he is. We are on an upward trajectory. If Hoke can't significantly improve the program RIGHT AWAY, then whats the point? It aint broke, lets use what we have!

My guess is that this move sets a timeline.
New AD - 11/15 Make a decision on the coaching staff after the OSU game If needed, new coach in place mid-December
It's all about recruiting right now. They only have 10 kids committed according to ESPN. (Worst in the Big 10)

This right here. He'll stay P5. Hell, he can possibly still remain a HC in the B1G. Indiana or Illinois might send feelers his way. Outside of the B1G, KU can certainly use Hoke as jayhawk HC.

I wouldn't consider myself among the "butthurt" crowd, despite my personal morals and ethics not jiving with how disrespectfully he handled his departure, especially at the players' expense. That said, I'd take him back as long as he was an upgrade AND, more importantly, those he'd be working closely with were fine and with it. Last thing we need is another cancerous situation where some players and/or staff members refuse to work with/for him and it harms the team and the upward trajectory the program is slowly moving.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hoke is gone before A Ohio State game. I say he's gone after their next loss, which may not be until A Ohio State, but I say before.
My questions, if somehow Hoke is not fired and somehow manages to run the table...
1) Do they accept an invite to what is likely to be a crappy bowl? 3) Is Hoke fired before or after the bowl, or does Hoke save his job?

Hoke is 16-11 overall in the Big Ten and 5-9 on the road. Given Michigan's advantages over the rest of the Big Ten in terms of facilities, recruiting ability, etc., this is pretty terrible. No way he is a head coach in the Big Ten for any program next year.

Michigan will likely have to win 3 of its remaining 4 games to play in a bowl game. Yeah it's theoretically possible that some 5-7 teams might go bowling this year but I'd like to think Michigan still has a modicum of class and would refuse an invitation if it finished below .500. Since I can't see Michigan beating Ohio State, as a practical matter, the Wolverines would have to beat Indiana, Northwestern and Maryland the next three weeks. While that's possible, as bad as they've been it's improbable.
Even in the unlikely event Michigan wins three more and goes to a bowl game with a 6-6 record, there's no way Hoke's firing isn't announced immediately after Ohio State. I'm sure he would like to coach in the bowl game but whether he's allowed to is another story.
Edit: And I agree with mnico. No way does Hoke coach in the B1G next year. The MAC or the AAC maybe, but not the B1G.

According to a couple of friends he will take at least one year off before returning to coaching. Most likely end up in the MAC.

I'm not familiar with his contract, but its likely he makes more money by not coaching anywhere next year.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using proboards This will be even "expensive" for Michigan, they paid us $1 mil to buy out his contract & if they "fire Hoke" they will still pay out millions!
ie HOKE WINS EITHER WAY

I was in Ann Harbor a few weeks back for the Penn State game; many Michigan fans assured us Penn State fans that Brandon would be gone and Brady not far behind him. I did not believe them at the time; but know I see they won the war against Brandon and Brady is the next target. Dream job?

You don't conclude a major hire (AD at Michigan) in 2 weeks! Michigan will likely name a new AD in May 2015 and he/she will start July 1, 2015. Hoke will announce his resignation after the OSU game and the university president will hire a new football coach before hiring the AD.
