Since JYP is gone, thought I would put up a memorial thread for one of the greatest bass players of all time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the first rock bass player who played lead lines like a guitar player. The back and forth between he and Clapton during the heyday of Cream inspired a lot of us baby boomer rock fans. I remember that the Playboy poll would list him often as the world's best rock bass player. A true legend.

Cream was the most talented 3some of all time, the greatest bassist, the greatest lead guitar, the greatest drummer.

Jack was a legend. Not only for his work with Cream, but also for his work with Leslie West, and, after that, Gary Moore.
I'm a little surprised that he died before Ginger Baker. Baker always looked like death warmed over, but played great. Cream was one of those bands that had more great albums left in them, but they left the party early rather than sticking around too long. They were truly great and had a huge impact on the music world.
It's a real shame that Jack passed away at only 71.

Yes, from the 2005 reunion. Clapton did a real favor to his old band mates by getting the reunion together. It's amazing how much better Clapton looks than the other two here. Of course EC stopped all the bad stuff many years ago...just in time. Jack was on his second liver here and you can see his frailty in body and voice. Panther Eric mentions that he is surprised that Jack Bruce went before Ginger Baker, but you can see here that Bruce is in the most frail health. Again, great singer, composer and bass player.
