We've seen a number of posts recently from people who feel that our moderation philosophy has become somewhat draconian and overbearing. I wanted to take a moment to address those concerns.
First, anyone who has been a member of Aztec Mesa for a few years will remember how this board became a nightmare because of personal conflicts between board members. We all want the same thing - the highest possible success for ALL Aztecs Athletic programs. What we often disagree on is how to achieve that highest possible success.
Because we all believe as strongly as we do about those things some people tend to overreact when someone posts an opposing view and doesn't believe that other views are correct - and are possibly dangerous to the success of those programs.
So ugly conflicts have resulted far too often. UGLY conflits. Those conflicts go all the way back to the old Aztec Talk boards during the Chuck Long era.
Second, we want this board to be as civil as possible. We don't want other board members to be the subject of discussion. We don't want to allow things to get personal. In the view of the Administration and Mod Staff that is the best way to prevent those ugly conflicts.
Third, we want threads to stay on topic. We don't want them derailed and sidetracked, and we don't want people posting in threads just to mock them and stir up trouble.
Those are our concerns and goals, and our forum rules reflect those concerns and goals.
If you have a concern of your own about how we go about enforcing forum rules our Mod Staff is ALWAYS open to feedback and suggestions by PM. We have never been rude to anyone showing concern that things aren't being handled as well as they could be. We always respond, and we always take those concerns to heart.
