Something to think about as we are about to send in our ballots or head to the polls. Just another reminder of what one of our biggest problems is and why it came about.

This is a non issue.
Everybody who is smart uses e-mail and FedEx. Nobody in his right mind would use US postage to deliver anything. They are inept after 8 years of Republican administrations.

Joe, get a grip. The mess at the USPS has been brewing for decades. Their business model is just totally out of place in the 21st Century. The USPS stays around simply because of politically motivated bailouts, the same way inefficient factories were kept on life-support for decades in the old Soviet Union.
The free market is a tough neighborhood, to be sure. It's no fun working your buns off for a company for years only to see the whole business fail and its workers cut lose. However, as unpalatable as that medicine is, it is far better than to drain national resources from productive enterprises in order to keep old and useless companies from expiring.

We need to do away with the United States Army, The United States Navy, the United States Air Force, the United States Post Office and so on. Think of all of the savings that could be realized. All of these wasteful government organizations need to disappear and the spending for them redirected to actual useful purposes.

Yes the postal service is losing money. At one time they had a complete monopoly in mail and parcel delivery. Then special interests began opening cracks in the business model. What pieces were allowed to become privatized? The pieces with the highest profit percentage. The postal service is required to deliver mail to every citizen. UPS and FedEx deliver to where it is profitable. Unfortunately, we are too far down that road and I don't think that the USPS will survive much longer in its present form. Times do change. Maybe a sell off is the best solution.

AzWm So, you agree with me? In part. I just disagree that the GOP in particular is responsible for the current situation. This is a trend that has gone on for many years. Neither party has done anything about it, the Dems because they are pro-union even when that policy makes no sense, the GOP because they know they will get blasted in the mainstream media for being anti-union if they try to take sensible action.
