I greatly respect and appreciate all that Quinn Kaehler has done and will do as an Aztec football player. He wanted to be an Aztec coming out of high school but was rejected. He reacted by going the community college route and doing all that he could to prove himself. He showed up on Aztec Mesa and was well down on the depth chart, but continued to work hard and distinguished himself by studying and quickly learning the playbook and the intricacies of the offense.
When Adam Dingwell failed, the team came to Quinn and he carried the program on his shoulders turning the 2013 season into a success and according to the paper was 10-5 as a starter. During the offseason, he underwent elbow surgery and rehabbed as well as he could in order to get back on the field and lead his teammates.
To those who want to harp on his arm strength or instances of poor decision making, I would remind that you remember he was the best we had and continued to work hard despite injury, to be the best he could be. He has hung in there and often taken a beating as well as the blame despite young and inexperienced receivers whose failure to properly or completely run their routes sometimes resulted in incompletions or interceptions. He was ijured more than once Saturday night, but true to form, he continued to hang in there, finally suffering a shoulder injury that has taken him out of the lineup and leaves uncertainty as to if or when he will be able to play again.
In the meantime, I feel certain that he will do all that he can to mentor and help his replacement Nick Bawden get the job done. Quinn Kaehler is a true Aztec who has done more than enough to earn our collective appreciation, respect and best wishes for a quick and successful recovery from his injury!
Thank you Quinn!

San Diego State is very lucky to have athletes like QK who live the dream and to do whatever it takes to put on the Red and Black. It is an incredible honor, and all who wear the colors deserve the utmost respect in all of our sports. Be consistent when you speak of sacrifice. It takes A LOT of time and effort to do what these young people do. QK is an over-achieved Rudy IMO, and I hope we continue to see more like him. Walking-on, going 10-5 as a starter, who drove this team from an 0-3 start all the way to a Bowl game victory will always have my respect.
Thank you, Quinn, and thank you to the Kaehler family for being Aztecs For Life! Heal up quick, my good man!
GO AZTECS!!! #BelieveTheHype #Win20 #BeatFSU

Is QK out for the season? Unless Bawden goes absolutely nuts, he will be back.

Although my confidence level was lowering, I never lost hope for QK. And his play during the UNLV game started to make me feel better about the rest of the season. I hope he returns and finishes his Aztec career strong with another bowl win. Speedy recovery to you, QK!

QK has really been a great story and really made the most with his abilities. . Unfortunately had problems with his arm hurting last year - had a procedure during JC or HS . Then had to have procedure and sat out the Spring drills . Not sure if his arm was completely solid this fall . Gutsy guy that gives his best . We all wish him the best on his recovery .

Add my thanks to QK. He may not have been the most athletic or best QB we've ever had, but he saved last season and never gave less than his best. To go through what he did to finally get to the starting QB job shows that he wanted to be an Aztec more than most of the players on the team.
Thanks Quinn.

He gives it all, that's all you can ask. As for him returning and starting this year? I highly doubt it happens again, if Bawden is serviceable he will keep the job.

Fingers crossed that this is the third straight year a backup QB shocks us all...wins some big games...and saves our season. Add a MWC championship and Las Vegas Bowl victory this year.

Let's hope so Dave. From what I saw of him at one scrimmage and the spring "game," Nick Bawden is a big stong kid with a matching strong arm. I believe he threw the only touchdown passes in the spring game and did so for both the red and black squads. In addition, I believe it was reported that he was a very quick study in learning and understanding the offensive system. I'm guessing his rapid development had something to do with Favreau moving to receiver and Odeman moving away.
How he will do in a game is one question, but the bigger question is who goes in if he goes down? Will they give the ball to Chapman? Move Favreau back to quarterback? I'm hoping that those questions will be asked and we will hear some answers this week.
My concerns that QK should have been sidelined late in games that were in hand or out of reach in order to give Bawden some reps preceded QK's injury.
