Fair to paint him with the "Willie Horton" brush...or not? Think FOX will sweep this issue under the rug (since he has a show on Sundays)? I don't really dislike Huckabee as a person...... but it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Of course I am referring to the suspect in the Washington cop murders.

That is probably a fair question. It may be why I think I heard that Huckabee has ruled out any Presidential aspirations. I bet we hear more details over the next few days. The Horton thing was a major bump in the road for Dukakis. Maybe as much as his photo playing "Tank Commander".

It's fair to paint him with the "Willie Horton brush". Damned right.
I dunno what Fox will do or say. Don't much care, either.

Unfortunately for him, Huckabee is getting a major share of the blame in this case. His decision to reduce the perp's sentence may well have been a mistake, but the real culprits are those prosecutors in Arkansas who did not file papers soon enough to put the bastard back in jail when he violated his parole.
And let's not forget the morons in the legal system in Washington who also dropped the ball by not denying this guy bail. Nevertheless, just as in the case of Katrina (Bush seemed to get all the blame when both the city and state authorities in Louisiana were guilty of gross incompetence in the area of disaster preparedness), the most visible person in the drama, Huckabee, is likely to suffer the greatest damage to his reputation.
(O'Reilly interviewed Huckabee and the latter's explanation was reasonable.)

There is more to it now and Huckabee has shed some more light on his actions. starturl.com/bhillLooks like the parole board and those two judges in Seattle have more to do with it than Huckabee.

He did not answer if he had consulted with the victims when he made the decision. Huck just commuted the sentence, but the parole was done by the parole board. The parole should have been revoked immediately when there was that first violation.

Yes, there were many others culpable; but the Huck had a track record of commuting sentences of perps who should never see the light of day. His record of commutations exceeded by 3x the previous three governors of Arkansas. And that included Mr. B(illy) J(eff).

You can't be half tough on crime and criminals. I like Huckabee, but this is a problem. I did a little research on where commutation stood in the big scheme of things. I was looking for a reason to support Huckabee on this particular issue. I just can't do it since my position is much more hard line.

Some more in defense of Huck, but I am still not convinced. You have to be really tough on crime. starturl.com/defendhuck
