According to a high school sports blog on the Citizen-Times.Com, the web site for the Asheville, N.C. newspaper, Christ School senior guard Damarcus Harrison has verbally committed to play basketball in 2011 for BYU. Scout.com, which has Harrison as a 3-star recruit and No. 38 among shooting guards, is also reporting that Harrison committed to the Cougars this morning. Harrison was one of BYU's top two recruiting targets as coach Dave Rose looks to fill the void that will be created when Jimmer Fredette and Jackson Emery graduate. Harrison will likely play the two spot for the Cougars. The Cougars lost out last week on point guard Brett Kingma, who committed to Oregon.
Here's what the Citizen-Times blog says:
Christ School senior Damarcus Harrison has committed to play basketball for Brigham Young University.
The 6-foot-5 wing from Greenwood, S.C., also had scholarship offers from Clemson, Florida State, Marquette, Oklahoma State, South Florida and Wisconsin.
Harrison averaged 11.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for the Greenies (37-2) last season.
He now becomes the third Division I prospect on the current team, joining Marshall Plumlee (Duke) and T.D. Dixon (College of Charleston).
"Certainly, I think Damarcus' faith had a lot to do with his decision," Christ School coach David Gaines said.
"But he also had a wonderful time on his visit there. And they play fast which fits his style. He feels really good about this."
I'm pretty sure this guy is from "The Cult"
