I just spent the worst 3 months of my life living in Baltimore, MD for my job and I had contact with some executives from Under Armour (they are based in Baltimore) and I was told that Under Armour is in negotiations to be the official uniform supplier for all Aztec teams. Anyone have any info on when the Nike contract ends? I kind of hope they stay with Nike, because that Under Armour gear is pricey. I noticed that the Under Armour gear that is in the SDSU bookstore now is way more expensive than the Nike gear.

Uh-oh, it's the return of the AIR BRUSH HELMETS!! UA likes to push it with semi-garish designs, check out Maryland Terps. But Maryland's "BLACK OPS" designs are eye-catching. Utah Bring back the Dark Side? Oldie Out

Yeah, I noticed when Under Armour started supplying Utah's unis, all of a sudden they started wearing black and going with the traditional Aztec all black football unis, which really pissed me off. I don't even think black is an official color of Utah. I thought it was just red and white.

I hope we don't change to UA. The bball kids love wearing Nike shoes. It surprisingly is a huge deal to recruits when they can choose their Nike shoes.

UA is the new Nike… The kids love it! Not the High School athletes I know. It's Nike they want.

I noticed that the Under Armour gear that is in the SDSU bookstore now is way more expensive than the Nike gear. That price you see in the bookstore has nothing to do with any contract with athletics. That is the price the bookstore sets. And the Under Armour gear there is expensive because we aren't contracted with them. Along with Nike supplying our uniforms, we get a set amount of "pedestrian" gear to place in the bookstore, and then the option to buy more. That brings down our costs, and brings down the price the bookstore places, or could if the bookstore decides too. LOL Under Armour and Nike in the bookstore really has very little to do with the actually representation of Nike with our athletics programs. That is why in the bookstore you don't see actually jerseys being sold. The jerseys you do see in the store aren't made by nike, that is why they look absolutely nothing like our real uniforms. Our bookstore pays Nike for the blank jersey with the swoosh. The bookstore, completely unaffiliated with athletics, sends those blank uniforms and shirts to companies that implement the design the bookstore decides on. People always confuse the two. Athletics contract has very little to do with what is being at the bookstore. And just because under armour is expensive in the stores, doesn't mean it is expensive for our athletic program to be represented by them. Completely two sides of the company. Different people and different pricing model.

Other than the shoes, the uniforms from Nike are blah. A move to UA for uniforms would be ok as far as I am concerned. Hell even ADIDAS would be ok as well.

A move to Under Armour would be a huge mistake and would ultimately hurt recruiting. We need to stay with Nike, Nike is HUGE within the basketball community and the brand attracts a lot of the prospects we go after. If you look at our team now, most of our players can be seen wearing Retro Jordan's on the court. That is really really big for young players coming up, what shoes they can wear on the court. Jordan's Brand is in a Partnership with Nike, If you're a Nike school it allows the players to also wear any pair of Jordans they want, along with the wide variety of shoes that Nike already offers. In the long run staying with Nike would be the best move for our basketball program.

Wish we could go to Under Armour for all sports but basketball. Nike sucks with uniforms now, Under Armour makes much better designs which I'm sure attracts recruits. Only problem would be basketball due to the retro Jordans, Under Armour just isn't there yet on basketball shoes.
