Irony is a major part of this story. Just another reminder that individual citizens are getting screwed again and again in favor of big corporations. If your property can be seized for just about any reason, what property rights are left? The answer is this: your property rights are no more and no less than what the government says. The genius of the United States at its creation was that the government was to be limited. The government had only a few specifically enumerated powers. All else was to be the province of the citizens. That wonderful concept has been eroded gradually, most noticeably in the last 80 years in the name of "progressive" goals and policies. And this is also a reminder to me of why I left the Republican Party and re-registered Libertarian. While the GOP is not as bad as the Democrats, the truth is that everything is now up for grabs. Virtually all politicians seek wealth (usually after their time in office is over) and power (which comes while they are in office). www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/11/19/the_civic_price_of_courting_corporations__99217.htmlAzWm

I don't find this quite as alarming as maybe I should. It is, however, evidence of how the intentions of the founders of the nation have been slowly changed and/or eroded.
I consider myself a Conservative who generally votes for the candidate most likely to beat a liberal Democrat. Some things Libertarian are appealing, but some things seem like approaching Anarchy.
