Rollerballish. Looks ugly but if it really is safer then give it a try.

Finally we've ascended to the REAL inner circle of college football.

Please tell me we aren't using that ugly flat black with the word " STATE" on it.Try to guess how many schools have the word "state" in their name.

Looks fancy, like something out of the halo video game, it should appeal to the young kids. Unfortunately, it won't really do much to reduce concussions. A brain traveling fast that is suddenly jolted to a quick stop slams into the inside of the skull causing tearing and bleeding in the lining of the brain. No helmet can prevent that from happening. They already know that so it's just PR and marketing at this point. I guess whatever helps folks feel less guilty about enjoying their football is great for the sport.

Reminds of the leather helmets we wore in high school. No, not the very old floppy kind that you could fold over and put in your pocket. This was more rigid leather that was layered . The effect was that when you got hit the helmet gave. Most schools were using a helmet made out of hard plastic cover with canvas straps on the inside where your head fit. It was called a suspension helmet. When you got hit it was like wearing a bell on your head. After a hit your head would ring, not from a hard hit but from the helmet design.
Anything that makes it safer for the players I'm all for.

You are right, that is an Arkansas State helmet. That is their design. Their colors are similar to ours, but we would not have a helmet look like that. I just wonder how safe these new helmets really are when someone gets hit by a player? Also, from what they say about the electronics in them, does this mean that now we will have someone on the sidelines with a lap top checking out all the signals coming from various players as they get hit during game action? And, if you get hit too hard, or by too many players does this mean that they will call you out of the game to check you over? I can see it all now. One of the coaches on the sideline holds up some fingers, and asks a player who just got hit how many fingers he is holding up. And, the player says, " What fingers, I don't see any fingers!" Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk!

Awesome that we are getting a new helmet and hopefully a great design to go along with it. I like the flat black look.

I liked the air-brushed helmets mainly because they were unique, and different than any other school had at the time. We needed the air-brushing to go a little further. And, the main reason we would not have a helmet that looked like Arkansas State's helmet is because that is their school design with the large A in the middle of stAte. They have had it on their helmets for a few years, so we would not copy that design.
