Love them or hate them, this is the BYU way. They do not put up with losing, in any sport, and when they struggle, even for a short time, they make changes. I am sure this is never discussed in Provo, but they have little tolerance for losing and they have zero loyalty to any coach. Lose, even for a very short time, and you are gone.

Let's pass the hat around and hire him as a consultant for a few hours to get a download of the problems at BYU in detail.

This knee jerk reaction does smell of Tom Holmoe, the guy who's taking them to independence.
Even with Mendenhall forced to take over the defense and tweak the exisiting scheme, I don't think they have the kind of players that will make much of a difference anyway. Nonetheless we'll see what kind of a chess player Al Borges is.

But then, they're a bunch of old men who are more out of touch with the world than those who live inside the DC Beltway. =Bob

Maybe all the losing is BYU's strategy for lining up some good teams to play next year. World killer to cupcake in one season? (((Knock on wood))))

they are minus 22 minutes in time of possession the last 2 games, defense is the least of their concerns

Their attitude is seriously depressed. If you follow the posted link back to their board, you can see that the fan opinion is that they are going to lose. They pick SDSU to outdo them in all positive categories in their fan survey.
Remember, this is the team that beat Washington to open the season. They have had a few injuries, and injuries are part of the game. That is the reason why good teams have a good two deep. (Unless you are SDSU over the past ten years. We finally have a two deep in the line. Shoot, there was one season after Craft took over from Tollner that we only had two real defensive linemen on the whole team.)
Oh well, BYU has depth, and with a little motivation, they can pick up their game. We will find out if Mendenhall can get some fire in their defensive attack.
