I really didn't know which forum to put this on but this one seemed to be best since although it involves a former Aztec football player, it really involves politics more than anything. msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/gay-umpires-ordeal-shows-sad-state-of-sports-081310I'll allow others to opine on the remainder of the column but I feel compelled to say this. Considering the outrageous conduct of that baseball manager and considering Van Raaphorst's connection to San Diego (former Aztec and his dad kicked for a number of years for the Chargers in the old AFL), did I just miss something or did the Union-Tribune miss something in apparently ignoring this story?

You missed something - the UT ran a story on it. Think it was discussed on here. =Bob

In other words, JJ found Whitlock's column but the Union-Tribune ran no story about this? If so, shame on the U-T. That manager's conduct was so outrageous that given Van Raaphorst's San Diego roots, it should have been news in America's Finest City.

Great article. Good for Billy Van Raaphorst. Way to represent SDSU.
This is on-topic BTW.

I agree the UT should have had something about this.
