Or Kawhi or Xander now. We are now going to call it "Mount AzTex" for your stories and contributions. Thread title has been appropriately updated! There should be a "Standiego Lookout Point" some where near looking for 5th person.

For those automatically disqualifying Butler or Kawhi because "they left SDSU early to pursue more money". Are you aware Marshall Faulk only played here 3 years and "left early to make more money"? Butler played here 4 years for chrissake! Recency bias? In case you're wondering, I'm not holding grudges against any of the 3 mentioned above. No one is disqualifying Kawhi since he was drafted into the NBA…and Faulk drafted into the NFL… Neither played college ball for another school after leaving the Aztecs They also didn't have the options available to today's athletes. You transferred then, you sat out a year, and no NIL opportunities (not legally anyway).

Absolutely begging people to not put coaches and players in the same category. One group coaches for a long time and the other one plays the sport for a max of 5 years. They shouldn't be compared.

Coaches: Coryell, Dietz, Fisher, Dutcher Players: Gwynn, Faulk, Kawhi, Strasburg, Xander (If DJT can add himself... I can also add a 5th). If I had to drop a player... it would be Strasburg That was actually pretty simple!

Gwynn, Faulk, Sipe, father of the show While Sipe had a great NFL career, he probably wasn't in the top 5 Aztec quarterbacks.

Mt. Rushmore should have the faces of the players that got us going. Mario Mendez, Neil Petties, Kern Carson and Rod Dowhower to name four of them. And Gary Garrison belongs in there as well.

Mendez, Petties and Carson were great running backs under Coryell's I-formation running attack. So few people today know what a great running offense Coryell had. Dowhower was an outstanding quarterback (and later coach) and Garrison was an elite receiver. Loved those guys. What an achievement to bring quality talent like that so San Diego State College and what coaching ability to maximize their talents.

Four faces on mount aztec are not enough. it needs more. six on the players' side. four on the coaches' side. none on he administrators' side. and a special out cropping for uncle teddy.

In 1969 Dennis Shaw was the quarterback. Sipe was backup. In 1970 Sipe was 9-2, but in 1971 only 6-5. His 2 years as #1 QB were not good enough to be on my Mt. Rushmore.
In my opinion that outcropping would belong to Ron Reina, the true Voice of the Aztecs.

I think the guy with the football made probably from a Mission Valley pig should be on Mt. AzTec. Or maybe the coach, who looks like he's down for pistols at dawn with Wyatt Earp. 1908 San Diego Normal School football team.

Which one is Stan? Roomer has it, this was his Senior year and he was looking to go into coaching after playing but instead started up AztecMesa and has been posting ever since and the rest is history.
